I agree. I wasn't a huge fan, but there is still an aura surrounding Tyson. After all, he was the "baddest man on the planet." Holyfield and Lewis were certainly great champions, but its simply not the same. Tyson was what most of us want from a heavyweight champ. He was crazy, he was brutal and he took no prisoner. Why do you think Jack Dempsey was such a celebrated figure. Even though he lost to Tuney (the boxer) twice, he was the first real savage, ungentlemenly fighter. He went in there to knock your head off, not to beat you on the cards.

Really...you don't think a prime Tyson would have done the same thing to both Briggs and Golota. Not to mention the fact that Lewis didn't look so hot in the Briggs fight. He was hurt several times. :patsch

Both in an all time sense and H2H

    Lewis
    Holyfield

    Tyson

Tyson just wasn't as good as Lewis or Holyfield, or rather.... he didn't beat sufficient opposition to prove it.

He was in control at all times. Lewis-Briggs one of my favorite fight all time. He was in control and waiting for opportunity. Briggs was able to hurt him with rabbit punches though.

In my humble opinion, Tyson would have shot through Briggs like **** through a goose. It would have been over for nervous Shannon in about a round, two at the most.

Michael Spinks beat Holmes twice and he beat Cooney and a number of other top contender. And no, he was not over the hill when Tyson fought him. He was only 31. Was he better than Holyfield, no. But he was arguably better than anyone Holy ever beat at heavy. I say arguable becuase there is Riddick Bowe. But Spinks record was better than Bowe's.

Old Holyfield, you mean? Yeah the same Holyfield that went life and death with John Ruiz right after the Lewis fight. Old Holmes and Spinks would be my answer
Who on Vitalis record is better than Razor Ruddock, Tony Tubbs, Tony Tucker, Pinklon Thomas, and Frank Bruno old Larry Holmes and Mike Spinks? :blood
