I think Canelo hits hard enough to get anyone's attention- so GGG would likely be cautious. Also, I do not think GGG will look only for a KO, instead of this I believe that he would plan to dominate Canelo, whether by boxing or punishment. Having said that, I would predict a stoppage in the last 3 rounds. If Canelo is being dominated, then punished, it would be stopped between rounds.
Wow, people are giving Canelo almost no respect here. I think he stands a good shot against GGG. He's already been in there with him and sparred 40 rounds or so. Canelo also has underrated defense, upper body movement, good power and is a preferred counter puncher. GGG's pressure may well play in to Canelo's hands. While Canelo's power is questionable, it certainly has to be considered above average and we have yet to see Golovkin deal with multiple big shots from a heavy hitter. His speed is also underrated around here. I think he stands a great chance, but I would have to pick GGG by late round stoppage as I think he goes in to this fight understanding he won't win a decision, especially not in LV. Either way, it should be a terrific, tense match up and I really hope it comes off. We should know in about a month either way.
The Lemieux and Stevens fight answered those questions as both hit much harder than Canelo. Though, Canelo may have the skill to land the big shots more frequently. That is true, and yet to be seen.
Golovkin puts a brutal beating on Canelo. Keep in mind boys that Canelo has never taken serious punishment in his career. Mayweather tagged El Pollo but TBE is no killer at 147. Golovkin would put Canelo down several times resulting in a TKO
The reason many aren't, including myself, is because while a lot of the Canelo slappies (not that you are) are claiming Canelo has fought better fighters, he has never fought at middleweight. What will his power be like at middleweight? How will he respond to a true middleweight? People living in the moment of Amir Khan for crying out loud who has been KO'd by fighters 20 lbs less. Canelo is a top notch fighter, but he will quit against GGG in my mind, no doubt. He doesn't have the gas tank for the pressure he will be under and he is not a running fighter.
