Cotto isnt ******ed like Cintron and wont fight the same way the 1st time that caused him to lose and Margo will always fight the same way he has through out his entire career. But Im still picking Margo by UD over Cotto in a rematch.
The Lujan fight was on youtube as well. Lujan made a good account for himself. If his ear wasn't hanging off, he would've went the distance.
Help my out here. Why don't more guys jab to the body like Mayweather does? It disrupts a lot of the opponents rhythm. Seems like way more old timers used this punch too. If it worked well for them, as well as for a great modern fighter like Mayweather, would Cotto have any success using it against Marg?
Here's my theory. Jabbing to the body often leaves the fighter opened to be countered and takes time have an effect. Mayweather has very long arms for his size and is very quick. He can jab to the body and get out of there without being countered. Many fighters can't. I've seen more fighters utilize the tactic. I've also seen them get countered doing it as well. Hell, even Mayweather was knocked down by a counter shot against Judah throwing a straight shot to the body(I can't remember if it was a jab or a straight right)
I would still give Cotto a chance early but if he shows ANY signs of slowing down or running out of gas then he's getting stopped again.
Good points. I think that another use for this is setting up a Mayweather favorite: the lead right. After jabbing to the body early, as the fight goes on the opponent begins to anticipate the punch and use thier hands to block accordingly. In the later rounds he will duck down and feint like he is going to jab the stomach, usually forcing the opponent to drop thier hands to block in anticipation due to experience from the early rounds, and then load up 100% on the lead right over the top flush.
Good call. Mayweather definately does a good job of setting that lead right with jabs to the body as well as left hooks. His opponents often have no idea what punch is coming. It worked like a charm on Hatton.
Not from him but from a lot of people here saying that he fought the wrong fightor it was that he should change trianersand the list goes on and on:deal
There will be no rematch trust me Margo will probably lose to Paul Williams AGAIN and don't be surprized if he gets his ass handed to him by Clottey. Then Cotto will beat Clottey or Paul Williams and reign surpreme AGAIN. Believe me when I say even you as a Margo Nut hugger could admit Cotto Looked alot more skilled then the walking brick wall that is Margo. Honestly Margo is just a bad match up for Cotto but Clottey will not put enough pressure on Cotto to win such a fight and PW is not strong enough to assert such a pressure type of a fight.
