He'd be fighting the winner of Golovkin-Canelo. They both weigh in the 180s on fight night.

That may be a slight exaggeration, but not by much. And that's not an insult to Marciano. It's more about the ridiculous practice today of weighing in 30-32 hours before a fight.

If they returned weigh-ins to a few hours before a fight, every title below heavyweight would be vacated. None of those guys can actually get in the ring and compete at the weights they dry out to meet (and that they maintain for about 60 seconds before consuming large amounts of fluids and eating piles of food to bulk back up).

    Why not put heavyweight?

It is not unknown for a fighter who can make a lower weight class to campaign at heavy.

Chris Byrd effectively bypassed two weight classes for the better money.

He´d be to small for the CWs today, but make a perfect LH and would be very successful. Before someone crys: There´s absolutely no shame about it!

Most LHWs rehydrate to about 185 so that'd be where he'd fight, unless he didn't mind packing on a ton of useless muscle and going at it at cruiserweight.

Marciano punched harder than Usyk does but Usyk might be too good at using his reach. (he`d better hope he was because Rocky would tear him apart inside).

He could fight cruisers at a catch weight.

Just because some LHWs are able to make weight from 185 lbs, doesn't necessarily mean that any fighter of that weight would be able to do so.

He was already employing a training regime far more extreme than any 21s century fighter, just to bring himself down to that number.

The idea that he could have combined this regime with an extreme dehydration regime, is at beat speculative, and at worst downright implausible.

I suspect that the most likely scenario, is that he would have started off as a small cruiser, and that ironically he would have ended up weighting more than he did in his own era.

A modern trainer preparing him for a twelve round fight, would probably have opted for a more balanced training regime, less skewed towards road work.

Marciano could probably ko any Cruiser/Lt.Heavy if he fought today with today's weigh-ins & 12 rd rules.

People who are voting Cruiserweight have Marciano gaining weight when losing weight in the modern fight game is absolutely overwhelmingly the crushing normal, where no financial advantage exists.

    It's very, very unlikely.

I think he said it was more out of frustration at not being able to get a promoter. Someone didn't promote him, and promoted a heavyweight, and he lost it, piled on a bunch of weight to fight at heavyweight.
