I think this part might even be true.

But you're underestimating weight-making now. I'ts a pseudo-science all on its own. Some of these guys are walking skeletons at the weigh in and then appear 15lbs heavier looking healthy (or not). The idea that Marciano was at the limit of human endurance in terms of weight-making is way, way off IMO.

I admit that I don't know exactly what you would get if you put him on a modern training regime.

He might even end up heavier than 185-190 as his starting point before he cut weight.

I will say that just looking at his power, he kind of seems more plausible as a small cruiser than a big light heavy.

Perhaps that is biasing my thinking a bit.

Rocky knew about money. He'd be a heavyweight because that's where the money is.

Well, if Marciano was using more modern type training he would be a lot heavier.

Marciano used to run 15 km or more most days along with a lot more training on top of that plus he would restrict his calorie intake.

he could easily be 25pounds heavier with modern training. Which would make him a heavyweight.

Marciano wanted the glory and you don’t get glory and money and fame at LHW or Cruiser. No doubt he weighs 220 on fight nights today. It’s not even a stretch that was close to his baseball playing weight. I don’t get people’s obsession thinking Rocky couldn’t put on weight. As if no fighter has ever gained weight successfully. Other fighters his height w similar reach Tyson and Tua. Rocky’s was still shorter.

He only knocked out two modern sized heavies in Shkor and Big Bill (220 n 230) both questionable chins but both had decent power. Knocked out almost all his smaller opponents so I don’t see why he couldn’t gain and be almost as successful. He may have problems w really skilled SHWs he may not we will never know. But I highly doubt he fights at anything less then HW

    people are unrealistic

I talked with Peter Marciano personally...and he told me based on Rocky’s personality and based on todays night before weigh ins, he said rocky would either cut down to light heavyweight, or attempt to bulk up 25-30lb and compete at cruiserweight/heavyweight But he wouldn’t get in the ring with 6’7 250lb 84” reach athletic fighters weighing only 185lb like in his prime. He was specific on that

I think that Peter would have a clearer idea about this, than any of us possibly could.

He didn’t rule out Marciano fighting at heavyweight, just said rocky would have to be bigger, 185lb would be too small

Marciano weighed in the fight night 178 sometimes so it would not be impossible
For him making 175 today and then weighing 186 in the fight night. But he was a natural cruiser.. Thick bones for a short guy ( but not the frame of frazier, tua or tyson who were natural hws)

That would be correct. But size wise he fits the bill.

Starts off as an average-sized light heavyweight and eventually moves up and becomes an undersized cruiserweight.

Look at how much bigger people are today in comparison to the 50s. Marciano would be at least 6'1" and probably getting on for 240 if he were boxing in this era.
