Liston would have steamrolled him, Foreman (70s and 90s), Bowe, and Tyson too. Holmes would have stopped him via referee in 7. Holy might have gotten hurt, but persevered for a 10th round TKO.

I think prime Quarry might have actually beaten both Michael and Leon Spinks, Tate, Weaver, Dokes, Coetzee. So I would put him as a good candidate for WBA champ in the 80s. He might have even beat Larry post-David Bey-to-before-Mercer.

Here's an idea...just think of how quick Herbie Hide could move, and how sharp his punches were (the latter both faster and more accurate than Dokes' on his best day). I think he'd probably take a couple of knockdowns, but slash Jerry to ribbons for an RTD.

Also worth mentioning, Jerry stopped Earnie Shavers, in round 1, on Dec 14 1973, in Madison Square Garden.

    He destroys Jeffries.

    Pick 'em against Johnson.

Beats Dempsey more times than not.

    Beats Schmeling, Braddock and Baer.

    Not too much beyond that.

Because I respect your opinion, Seamus...what about guys like Weaver, Dokes, Bonecrusher, Tubbs?

Those guys were so dramatically inconsistent that a peak Quarry has more than a live chance against any.

    And he beats Neon Leon.

    And Foreman.

He could have won a belt in the 80s. Look at some of the guys that they called champions. Weaver, Tubbs, Witherspoon, Smith, Thomas. He was as good as any of those guys.

And Dokes, imo. The only two above that might have taken him out would be Thomas and Witherspoon...but those guys were pretty inconsistent.

I don't think he beats Dempsey.

Schmeling, Braddock and Max Baer at their best can possibly beat Quarry.

Not 86-89 when a prime Tyson was rampaging about.

Yes, Iron Mike had a waaaay better defense than Shavers. Quarry would have been an early victim...he might make it to the fourth round.

Always hear on this site that Foreman avoided Quarry because of the bad matchup. But for the life of me I can’t see Quarry putting George down or lasting the distance. Had Quarry put up better against Ali and Frazier I might have a different view. I do hold Quarry in high regards though because of his other solid wins
