versus arreola. wow. a domination. vitali put on a boxing clinic and gave a little bit of everything to chris. there is no doubt in my mind that vitali is all around more skilled than his little bro.
what has wlad got that vitali doesnt other than a jab, speed and power? vitali is a better counter puncher, better all around defensively, has more heart, toughness and the better chin and a higher boxing IQ. i beg to differ.
Wlad also has much better left hook and cross. Also wlad is better defensively. He has MUCH better foot speed and great balance. I wouldn't say Vitaly has more heart but he does have more toughness(and chin, obviously). The thing is that Vitaly is great Against come forward guys. He will lean back and land his awkward punches from weird angles. He is not that impressive against defensive fighters or boxers. Gomez had some success and landed punches on Vitaly that wlad would've avoided. If they fought now Wlad would've make it almost impossible for vitaly to land.
How about attacking David Haye in a resteruant. That is the kinda guy he is. And throwing him across the damn room.
what shite are you talking??vitali has a better chin.heart and is mentally tuff..thats all he has better than wlad.wlad dwarfs him in every other department...hits harder.is faster.is smarter, better footwork, better timing, better jab.better coach.can adopt to all sorts of styles...this is common to most boxers and coaches....all say the same.vitali may be the tuffer but wlad is the more talented..which is correct
Vitali always looks great, even in defeat. Nobody in Chris Byrd's career had really laid consistent leather on him until Vitali. Before anyone mentions Ibeabuchi, he hit Chris with monster shots and pressured him but Vitali shortened his punches and was landing on Byrd quite consistently while not really having to pressure Byrd that much. Any VK fight shows him beating up the competition.
I think he looked the best in his two round destruction of Kirk Johnson. He came out and didn't even mess around with that dude. LoL! The Arreola fight has to be a close second. And this talk of Vitali showing signs of "slowing down" I'm not seeing it. In the Briggs fight he was throwing fast, snappy punches and moving well.
i really love vitalis fight against hide..ino it wasnt his greatest..but the way hide was getting on during the pressers and even won the 1st round to then be ktfo was brilliant on big vits part
In bold are the only parts that are true. Wlad is the better counter puncher, better defensively and has the higher ring IQ...to go along with his greater jab, speed and power. Vitali has one leg up on Wlad - durability (a term which sums up everything in bold). That is it. Wlad's technical, "robotic" style coupled with his size is always going to be the more lethal puzzle to solve than Vitali's awkward hop-along antics cultivated from his kickboxing background (although it's allowed him to be successful against the caliber of opposition he's faced).
The man has lost so few rounds he must be doing something well, defensively. He lost two rounds to Lenox. and Might have lost a round to Byrd after the shoulder became too much. If you take a round from him, you had a good fight. Out side of Lewis and perhaps Byrd, who else took two rounds from him...Not Gomez in my book. I watched the first Byrd fight on TV and had him so far ahead....then Merchant who has never even strained a pinky lifting a glass lables him a quiter. The Lewis fight was his best. He retired Lewis that night. It was not Vitilie's fault Lewis was in shape for Donut Johnson. The judges were right with their score. That was a great fight.
