Now obviously he took more punches from Ali, but you have to adjust for Foreman's punching power which was clearly more damaging than Ali's.

If it wasn't for the FOTC, he wouldn't have taken as much damage against Foreman! Therein lies your answer.

As Frazier said: "George hits a ton".

I honestly don't think the Foreman fight affected him much in the long term if I'm honest.

Foreman knocked him out, Ali didn' seem to hurt him at all but spent I think it was a month in the hospital afterwards, so I'd say ali, foreman just did more immdiate damage

Undecided of those 2, but it seems he took more punishment in the Thrilla, ESPECIALLY the sustained type.

FOTC, for sure. Frazier ate a ton of flush, hard punches that fight. He probably would’ve been much better off if Ali had had the power to stop him early.

I would think the Foreman fight did much more long term damage.

He was prime in the Ali fight.

Now, Ali-Frazier III is the fight where Frazier probably took the most punishment - 14 rounds of give and take war.

Gonna go against the grain and say the Foreman fight was more punishing. FOTC was longer and more grueling. Ali`s punches did damage around the eyes because they were straight one twos but hey didn't carry the same wrecking ball force and overall damage. Foreman never did knock Joe out, he knocked him down over and over and but it was in between those knockdowns where it was most brutal. Foreman was hitting Frazier with clean power punches when he was already hurt and dazed, Frazier took a ton of punches and stayed up and took more. Foreman literally had to beat Joe to the ground. One of George`s punches drove Joe`s tooth through his lip clean. Michael Moorer took one of those punches clean and layed down and died in the center to the ring. Couldve counted 100 over him.

Its not even close really in my opinion. Ali hurt Frazier once in 15 rounds.

...and I doubt '94 George hit as hard as '73 George, either.

Moorer didn't have much of a chin.

Aren't you the genius that said the first Ali fight "ruined" Frazier.

The first Foreman fight did much more long term damage an did more to "ruin" him.

Ali's famous quote: "It was as close to death as you can come." I think Ali was talking about both fighters...in reality.

I thought it was 2 weeks in the hospital? But anyway, that's why I started this thread because I don't recall hearing about Frazier spending any time of consequence in the hospital after the Foreman demolition, even though Foreman bounced him around the ring like a basketball. On the other hand, he seemed to just bulldoze through any and everything Ali threw, but that's the fight that gave him a lengthy hospital stay.

I shudder to think what would've happened to Frazier if there'd been no referee around to stop the massacre.
