I'm willing to bet that if we started a poll for each of those fights and asked boxing fans who they thought won, the guys who got the short end of the decision would lead the votes. Actually, i know for a fact that in the Johnson and Marquez polls after the fights, both of them were leading. And Spinks/Phillips was just a robbery, plain and simple.

I completely agree and it was by no means a robbery,,,,,it shouldn't even be in the same sentence as that word

I was just putting in my .2 cents

comon now Marquez is a star fighter promoted by GBP, there is no way the judges were paid to give the fight to Pacquiao

Spinks-Phillips makes me so angry; it's up there with Santa Cruz-Casamayor, Quartey-Forrest and Huerta-Diamond in recent travesties, and in the final analysis may even be WORSE than any of those, because of how willing most 'boxing fans' proved to turn a blind eye, just because they dislike Spinks and/or his style. Positively disgusting how little a fuss was made about this. I think there were maybe two threads in the ensuing week.

how comparable the so called robberies of this recent fights?

    malignaggi-ndou 2
    johnson-dawson
    pac-marquez 2

    i could also add ngoudjo-malignaggi

i think the difference was pac-marquez 2 was the most closest of this fights but i would like to hear what everyone else thinks..

Calzaghe won most of round 1 (The flash knock-down/push-down, from which he was up in 3 seconds or so, notwithstanding).

But I scored it 10-8 to Bernard on general principles.

I gave Bernard another two of the next three rounds.

After the fourth, he won no more, and even resorted to dodgy tactics to grab a rest in round 10. Any time he tried to flurry with Joe, he was quickly reduced to retreat and covering up.

He did land the five or six best shots of the fight, but none had much effect on Joe, who outworked and outscored him by a wide margin.

He made things appear closer than I thought he would, which indicates that despite being 43, he's still a cagey, skilled customer.

    But did he win?

    Nope.

    He didn't come close.

    Precisely.

Thanks for clarifying my sloppy and ambiguous writing.

im surprised arce-lookmahanak hasn't gotten more support

as to the individuals questioning why i chose these particular fights, i wasn't inferring that they were all "robberies" or even controversial; i just thought it would be interesting to list a bunch of fights from this year where it was CONCEIVABLE that someone would've had the loser winning... personally, i thought the right person won in most cases

Certainly a much more viable case can be made for Ngoudjo than N'dou in either of his fights. :nod
