Which other decade /era does marciano cut through his challengers and goes 49 /0? He did it in the 50 s, which other period of time could he win the title and defend it six times?
Seriously though ,its a very intruiging question.Would he have defeated younger versions of Charles and Walcott? How would he have done in the 1970's? The 20's The early 1900's against,Jeffries, Langford,Johnson, Jeannette, McVey?
1900-10 seems good bet. 1920s perhaps. Depends how you rate him vs Dempsey. I pick him over Dempsey and Tunney based on his reign which, while peppered with light heavies and/or past prime fighters, still saw a better body of work than the two 20s stalwarts achieved imo.
From Sullivan to Johnson 1885-1908. Between Dempsey and Louis, 1926-1937. I think he's competitive vs Dempsey, Johnson and Louis, but they beat him eventually. Otherwise he beats everyone else from 1885-1937.
probably none 1910's Jack Johnson, 1920's Dempsey1930s or 1940s hed have to deal with a much better Louis than he actually faced. 1960s -1970s Ali. 1980's Holmes, Tyson 1990s Lewis 2000s Klitchkos I don't really know about before Johnson, but do many really rate that era. He came around at the perfect time to do what he did.
We are basically looking for a four year window here, assuming that he is matched the same way as he was in his own time. I submit that there are quite a few such windows, where he could conceivably get the same results.
What about 28 to 36? Turns professional in 28, fight for the belt in 30 against schmeling, then defend against young stribling, sharkey, Carnera, uzcudun, Loughran and finally baer, then retires?
Another possible time frame is defeating buster mathis in 68 and then retiring in 72, but that would have to include beating a comeback Ali in 70. No easy task and possibly the hardest fight of rocks career.
Well, staying on top for a decade the way Wlad or Joe Louis by fighting some or all of the top 3 title opponents in a ten year span is very rare! Defending it six times could have been done in the following times. John L Sullivan's 1880's Tommy Burns / Jack Johnson time from 1905-1915, perhaps the easiest title defenses ever Post Tunney to Pre-Joe Louis Floyd Patterson's title opponents pre Sonny Liston.
I I can see him in the Floyd era easily and he wouldn't lose to Ingo. Have to have a think about the other ones you mentioned.
Fighting dross like Chambers Old Rahman Old Byrd Austin Brock Castillo Leapai Pianetta Wach Mormeck Quite a few champs would cruise through them.
