In your opinion, is Tony Zale a ATG?

    I’ve seen very divided opinions on “The man of steel” in these forums, so in your opinion does Tony Zale make the ATG list?

    I don’t think his resume holds up to ATG status. He was more very good to me.

    I don't know how much it matters whether he is an ATG or not. His place in history is secure because of the Graziano wars so he'll always be a legendary middleweight.

    of course he is,

    is he a Gans, Greb, Pep or SRR, No, but few are, though hundreds of fighters aren't too far behind them, and Tony Zale was equally one of them.

    No, tho it might not entirely be his fault. He lost his best years to the war. What remains of his resume is a bit underwhelming, his most renowned fights being against one of the most overrated and overhyped fighters in the division's history.

    I'd say he was an Alan Minter level guy. Very respectable but no ATG.
