Greb could jab a guys eye shut. We could argue all night about the value of Johnson's jab. When I arrived on this board I thought of Corbett as the "father of the jab"

To make things easier, this thread isn't about good old time jabbers, but the first GREAT one. Who is the first guy that in your opinion can be permitted to keep company with guys like Whitaker, De La Hoya, Holmes, Liston and Buchanan in terms of the quality of their jab? The first fighter who's jab was as good as that of anyone who has EVER boxed?

Maybe Joe Gans. When Joe used his jab he often would slam his left foot down at the same time to make the punch harder.

:goodprobably the first fighter i can think of who consistently relied on his jab. he used it as his primary tool and was soooo versatile with it. still one of the best movers and jabbers in history
