KEEPING IN IND that all these are going to be used at max intensity or at the best intensity that produces the best fitness results out of: roadwork (includes all types: tabata, HIIT, fast runns, slow jogs etc) skipping- all kinds bagwork- all kinds sparring- all kinds shadow boxing weights- all kinds of exercise and sets/reps/weight/rest period circuit training- all kinds in my opinion its: 1. sparring, the closest you can get to actual fighting, and can be used at a intestisy similar to a fight 2. bag work, the main thing that gets you tired in a bout is punching, this is what you do on a bag, you can also do specific drills for fitness and skill and even work on movement 3.road work- if you use road work such as the one i will refer you to (http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=334194 you will put the body under lots of stress and exaust it, similar to what you do in the ring 4/5. circuit training, i would refer you to ross boxing for some intense ideas, you will then relise how intense these can actually be 4/5. weight, i can not decide the place of weights or circuit training as science hase prove amazing uses or weights over the past skipping. simply not as intense as the others, but still invaluabe where would you rate these exercises
I'd say the heavybag work or running. Sparring can be lower intensity if you're very skilled and relaxed in there.
i love using skipping as a warm up or on my days off as a light excercise which also helps condition the shoulders also a sprint at the end of a round usually gets the pulse up. Plus i find it alot more interesting than going for a jog/light run. Sprints/ High intensity bag rounds kill me the most.
