Before he messed up his hands, it was Joe Calzaghe.

Think about it..Blazingly fast hand and foot speed, iron chin. Power in both fist, unmatched Boxing IQ..
The only thing was he liked to brawl too much.[/quote]

Benny Leonard for me. A number of other guys have great arguments as well, but Leonard's combination of skill, power, speed, and ring IQ was flat out rare. Given that this is somewhat of a popularity contest anyways, it's about time the Ghetto Wizard gets his name mentioned.

It may be a cliche, but Ray Robinson duh...

Speed, power in both hands, boxing skill, IQ, great chin, great heart, and an underrated quality; size!

    He had it all, period

Robinson's the only other guy I was seriously debating between. Ray Arcel couldn't pick between 'em, and honestly, neither could I. Leonard got my vote simply because he's horribly underrepresented in this thread.

Picture Ali with legitimate knockout power, and that was what Benny Leonard was. He was ahead of his time skillswise, gifted physically, and an exceptional boxing mind. I wish we had as much footage of his lightweight run as we do of Robinson's middleweight fights.

Sugar Ray Robinson, the closest a fighter has ever been to being perfect. The man had it all, blinding speed, timing, technique, punch power, great chin, heart, desire and above all else a resume with many great wins over fellow outstanding fighters of his day. The man was a boxing legend!

There's no complete fighter in this world. Everybody has flaws.

That is true. The closest to being complete though was Sugar Ray Robinson, without question.
