Has there ever been a better time/period of matchups?? In 2017 we have:

    Kovalev Ward
    Lomachenko Rigondeaux
    Triple G Canelo
    Klitschko Joshua
    Frampton LSC
    Rungvisai Gonzalez
    Floyd v Braveheart

    Etc

We are also currently getting the CW & SMW tournament's that will give us matchups like:

    Groves Eubank
    Usyk Gassiev

We may even get in the next 6 months or so:

    Fury Joshua
    Kovalev Beterbiev
    Thurman Spence
    Horn Crawford
    Bivol Frank Bruno

    Etc etc

Some great prospects coming through in all divisions too.

Immense period! I can't think of a better time in boxing (barring some dodgy decisions that are screwing the sport.. But that's another discussion lol) since dropping the casual moniker & really getting into boxing. Can you?

I've been watching boxing since I was just a wee little 5' 6" boy, so that's over 3 decades ago. There probably have been years in that timeframe with even more big and good fights, but then you just couldn't watch them all.

good times to be a boxfan

Yep, pre-youtube days if you didn't see it live and it wasn't airing in your market you didn't see it. Now, we see everything. Somsak Sithchatchawal vs Mahyar Monshipour 2006 fight of the year and nobody saw it outside of France, except for on youtube. That resource is a game changer.

Nah, Rigo's too old and small. This is going to be more like Khan vs Canelo or Brook vs GGG. Kovalev and Inoue are both p4p but if they fought it's still a farce.

Why would Kovalev fight Inoue? Lol

This fight is old school. May I remind you that in the past this fight in terms of size would be unremarkable & commonplace. The great Joe Gans (LW) fought & lost to Terry McGovern (who was a BW & FW fighter)...

The great LW Benny Leonard.. Fought FW champion Johnny Kilbaine & lost lol he fought former Bantam champ Jimmy Reagan to a draw too!!

MW is littered with former WWs too! I'll reserve judgement on this 'huge size disparity' until the face off.. Besides being smaller can have benefits too, more elusive, smaller target... Byrd, Pac etc made a career out of this...

Loma is taller, Rigo has the reach though! If its a height mismatch its a reach mismatch too then lol

Why would I care about two nobodies fighting each other? Only people in Britain give a **** about either of their careers. They aren't even the fifth best guys in their respective divisions. Haye was a top heavyweight contender from 2009-2012 but hasn't been relevant in five years. I don't think anyone ever cared about Tony Bellew.

The first real memory of boxing is a horrible one. Eubank vs Watson 2. Can still remember my drunk uncle saying Eubank is only hitting Watson's gloves. Yeah, I think you're wrong. I've been watching since late 80's with family when I was still in a pram. Early 90s is where I can remember from. Seen plenty of years that had greater fights. They've already been mentioned above.

It has been a great year though.

A lot of fans on here won't agree.

The first three fights you listed involved a fighter moving up a weight class or two.

We all know how boxingforum24 feels about that... "no contest!"

I bet 2018 will be even better.

    1) Loma vs Garcia
    2) Kovalev vs Beterbiev
    3) Parker vs Povetkin (It will happen)
    4) Usyk vs Gassiev
    5) GGG vs Canelo rematch
    6) Wlad vs either Wilder or Joshua again. I don’t think he’s finished.
    7) Gvozdyk vs Stevenson
