In your view, was George Foreman largely right in this interview about Wlad?

Steward tightened his defense, no doubt.

Having said that, Steward can often be heard screaming at Wlad to let his hands go though and Wlad won't.

George Foreman's right, apart from the bit that the smaller fighters in his era would walk through Wlad.

George is right. Wladimir was so cautious in his fight with Sultan Igragimov that Steward was imploring him to do something in the twelfth and final round. Imagine Wladimir fighting Ken Norton who was able to break Ali's jaw or George in his prime who was able to land sometimes against Ali. A prime Larry Holmes would have outboxed Wladimir too.

Imagine the same Wladimir fighting the Norton that was annihilated by 168lb Jose Garcia or the Ali who went 14 rounds and was knocked down by Cuck Wepner. Or, how about the Holmes' that won a SD over a 14 fight novice like Witherspoon.

    Wlad would slaughter Ken Norton.

George is funny when he says 'Can you imagine if Frazier went after Wlad'. No, George I can't imagine that. Frazier would get his head handed to him on a plate by Wlad, that's the only outcome I can imagine.

I think Foreman is pretty much right. Wlad's biggest weakness is his mentality. I don't think he got hit with a single good shot against Sam Peter and yet when he went down, he looked absolutely petrified. People can say that Steward has made him a better fighter, and he has, but he can't change Wlad's mentality. Nobody can, not even Wlad himself. He just doesn't have that in him, so it's hard to imagine how he could beat any great fighter.

Eventually, a great fighter would test Wlad. I don't think Wlad reacts well to pressure and that'd be his downfall. I'm not talking about physical pressure, like what a pressure fighter applies, either. I'm talking about mental pressure.

Wlad is the only fighter I've seen at a high level who looks terrified at times. People always mention Michael Spinks looking scared before he fought Tyson but when the bell rang, he didn't run or quit, he fought like a man. I've never looked at a boxer before and seen genuine fear like Wlad has showed numerous times.

That's all well and good against poor opponents who you can bully. When a great fighter tests Wlad, how would he react? Not well, I don't think.

Wepner stepped on Ali's foot. That is why he was able to knock him down. Witherspoon was a good fighter at the time he fought Holmes and eventually became a world champion. Imagine the Ali that fought Wepner in 1975 fighting the Wladimir who lost to Corrie Sanders.

Foreman is a bum in the sense that he would get polaxed to death by Wladimir. He is not a bum, but compared to Wladimir he is. Thats why I said " compared to Wladimir he is a bum".

Of course Pavlik could not win a round against Wladimir either thats why they have weight classes.

The problem is that it often takes more than a couple of rounds before Wlad throws a straight right.
