In your view, was George Foreman largely right in this interview about Wlad?

Seems like all commentators have this opinion of Wladimir after the fighter they'd rather have win gets his ass kicked. It kinda saves face for them :yep

Foreman has a point though. When you consider only defending a title a win is a win no matter how it was achieved and how bad was your opponent - but in terms of legacy it really makes a difference. Numbers alone won't get you much of a legacy.

Do you think after 30 years from now anyone would like to watch "classic" fights like Wlad-Mormeck? Because I'm sure people (or at least boxing fans) would still watch and discuss fights like Ali-Frazier, or some Holyfield/Tyson fights. And without much interest in those fights no one would be interested either in their KO ratio or number of defences they compiled.

Foreman should take another look at his fight with Ali. Seems fighting "defensive" turned out pretty good for the "Greatest" in that fight :good

:deal Exacltly! I remember after the Wlad vs. Peter I fight he said they both proved to have iron chins. Foreman along with alot of old time heavyweights were stupid to begin with, plus they are punch drunk/ brain damaged to a degree. Someone like Wlad or Vitali will make great commentators in the future because they are smart, educated, and don't get hit very much (good defense). They won't contradict themselves all the time like these other boneheads.

I recently watched the first Peter fight, and I had forgotten how vulnerable Wlad looked whenever Peter put a few punches together.

It's difficult to get this image out of my mind when comparing Wlad to previous champions. I don't recall watching any other great fighter have such a complete lack of confidence in his ability to take punishment and stay upright.

There are plenty of previous champions who Wlad would probably keep on the end of the jab, soften up, and take out later on without absorbing much damage. It's undeniable though, that the true elite would breach his first wall of defense and put him under pressure at some point. The only conclusion you can draw from his career is that he would fold badly under this pressure and suffer a stoppage loss, as there isn't any persuasive evidence to the contrary (Peter doesn't qualify)

Some people like to pretend that these fights never happened, or occurred so long ago that they are no longer relevant. The truth is that Wlad hasn't corrected these flaws; he has just perfected a style that hides those weaknesses and makes the most of his overwhelming attributes.

To favour Wlad in a H2H match-up against Foreman, Tyson, Lewis etc you would have to assume that he would completely dominate them without having to overcome adversity. This obviously wouldn't happen.

AHHHAH . . . all the Klitlickers are crying like little bitches! Big George is spot on and they all know it deep down inside. I have been saying it for years these guys today would not last in the old days when men fought like men! Wlad would have pissed his pants every fight, Older Bro would make a far better account for himself and would be competitive back then. Stewart has made Wlad into the poor mans version of Lennox and if he didn't he would have only been a footnote in time. Everybody knows that Big V is the fighter in the family and none of these ***** today can even come close to touching Wlad because they are all a bunch of ****s.

Face it guys the heavyweights are dead!

Foreman is a good boxer, but a terrible analyst.

Proven here. Wlad KO's Foreman in his prime.

Sure that worked out well for Patterson... :patsch
George has a grudge against defensive boxers: Ali, Young, Holyfield..

:huh I've never seen their names side-by-side, like that, now that you mention it. I always thought it was weird how at all of his fights he's got a guy that tags along who looks like him. :blood I thought it was like one of those Liberace things.
