I would say Louis, Marciano, Dempsey, Tunney, Walcott, Charles, Patterson, etc. I'm basically talking about the great and near-great heavyweight champions between the 1920s and 1960s.

Absolutely Joe Louis. He always fought at 200. What a list! Look at that top 20 all-time lineup.

The thing is that nobody has mentioned is that Dempsey and Louis were better against the bigger men (non-Cruisers) than they were against the smaller men. So they may have been the best heavies who get into this weight category they may not have been the best at fighting other Cruisers.

These two KO almost all big aggressive HWs but peak Charles, Walcott and Tunney would always give them trouble.

Dempsey fully bulked out would be at most 210. Tyson was more muscular then Dempsey but then again Tyson was a genetic freak.

Consideration must be given to those that fought their careers at that weight, fought a number of significant fights at that weight or moved up from that weight. I don't think Billy Conn qualifies nor does Mike Tyson. Dempsey does.

i think you should add rocky marciano on their. Charlie goldman polished his style made in order to beat the big men. His whole style was purposely suited to dealing with the big men, while the small speedsters were his kryptonite.

Yeah, Dempsey was a tiny puncher against Willard.

Seeds were adjusted somewhat to allow matches that were outside of their eras. Marciano is rated ahead of Louis simply because of the win. . Johansson, Langford, Machen, Qawi and other deserving boxers at the weight were not included to allow for a 16 man format of the top rated.
