whats the best way on increasing hand speed. I've just got my gf to record a round on the punchbag and wasnt very happy with my speed, when i'm punching i think i have floyd mayweathers speed, when i watched myself it looked as if i had sultan ibragimovs speed!. I dont have a speed ball but do have a 7 ft punch bag and i use 16oz gloves when smashing at the bag. any help??

:bbb - that f**kers probably faster than me at the mo!!:bart

Just be explosive when your on the punch bag, use heavy gloves and also doing clap pushups can increase the explosivness of your upper body so i've heard. Other than that i guess stuff like alot of padwork, while still being explosive because you'll be maintaining technique etc. Some people are naturally fast and gifted in that area, so dont get your hopes up if you expect to gain Roy Jones speed!

I think it just comes with repetition. if you train reguraly for a few weeks you should see an improvement in speed.

    Relax, and improve your form..

Those two alone will bring hand speed, after that, you can worry about punching with weights and all that ish.

muscle memory is the key for improvements you cant increase the speed your muscles can move at very much but you sure as hell can increase the speed which the brain intiates a punch by a significant margin ie the time taking between seeing the shot and throwing it.hope that makes sense

Practice. Not loading up on every punch also helps. Varying speed and power in punches makes you less predictable as well.

Concentrate on throwing faster punches and then it will become habit.

Anarobic exercise is the key here, high intensity exercise favours the anarobic Metabolism which rely mainly on fast twitch muscle fibres, although working at this rate will only be for shorts periods....

plyometrics exercises will also help to build explosive power
