Just wondering what the best exercise is to increase hand speed.

I have been doing a lot of the speed ball, floor to ceiling, and punch outs with light dumbbells (3kg). Was just wondering if there is any other way I could increase my hand speed. Also wondering what is the best exercise to increase punching power.

    Thanks.

Technique, agility and balance drills. You can't improve the rate your muscles twitch to any great extent, those exercises you're doing aren't going to do much at all for speed and power. What you can do is incorporate plyometric exercises to improve the efficiency of your tendons. Performing strength exercises in conjunction allows you to get greater effects from the plyos since heavy weight makes your tendons stiffer and able to recoil with more force.

sorry scrap but can I ask how that workout increases handspeed? I could understand increasing footspeed and punching power... but I'm having a hard time seeing how working out the legs in that manner would affect handspeed at all

By working the Golgi reflex in the Elbow and Knees, also by being in the position He is, being young also there is No Stress. Plus in that position the Heart and Diaphragm are working 35% more efficient, also has good Stability in the upper Vertebraes.

speed is all in the mind ,think speed ,,don't think of throwing the jab ,think of getting it back ,,,this may sound weird to you but it works for me ,,think there is a fly in front of the jab & aim to catch it ,,you've got to be fast to catch the fly

as soon as the brain is used to the speed ,,then you have speed

start with the jab shadow boxing ,then when you feel you've got faster ,start with the combinations

You don't actually believe this do you?

  8. One tip ive been given before (scraps posted also i believe) - think about the elbows when practicing shadow boxing. The hands can be a lot faster if you look further down the chain. Also practise half punching but at the end of the day experience, knowledge and execution helps to fight fast.

By working on an unstable piece of equipment, it has that effect in constant adjustment

i believe it is ,,,,hers an example ,,if i tell a boxer to hit the bag or pads & ask for speed ,what happens is they still try to go for power hitting throw the target making them slow still trying to get speed ,,,,
if i tell them to take of there gloves & hit my hands with no pads and ask for speed ,,,there 5 times faster & its not just to do with the weight of the gloves ,,,if you can train the brain to throw fast punches when shadow boxing or hitting the hand ,then thats what the body will get used to doing,,,,,,don't forget in boxing you need fast light punching to make openings for the power shots

I'm not saying we all have speed ,,,I'm saying with a different why of thinking we can all get faster
