Beijing was just as bad, the only difference was that you could see a fighter being robbed as opposed to just predicting it. Kenny Egan was one such boxer who landed allsorts, one combination had about six clean shots, no scores.... then the Chinese missed a few and kept scoring.
That's the sad thing, boxing isn't looking good here and we've got lads getting by on hometown decisions by sounds. I haven't seen the Ogogo or Stalker bouts. I've seen Joshua's, I saw Selby do well, and Evans as well but i'm not overly impressed by our lads thus far.
Lets see how far the judges carry these fighters.. If this happens in the next round too then things might get more evident.
Indians can't accuse other nations of receiving favours considering the farce in 2010. The IOC should just throw boxing out, and make it clear that until the house is in order and fair play is evident then it won't be back in. That'll shake the AIBA up I feel. If it doesn't, nothing will.
It's not nice that bull**** decisions are working in our favour, it tarnishes both the sport and our nation's reputation. As for Kumar working harder, that's exactly what he did. Stalker gassed and Kumar got robbed.
:rofl Bloody hell he has got some nerve, I bet he never spoke up during the commonwealth games when Indian boxers were getting granted flat out robberies what seemed like pretty much every day. This tournament the judging has been far from perfect but it has been no worse than any other International amateur boxing tournament I've seen and significantly better than the commonwealth games in Delhi.
:thumbsup If the IOC chucked AIBA & boxing outta the Olympics, AIBA would cease to exist, but if am boxing was removed all lottery funding for boxing would dry up & that would hurt everyone
There is no need to kick out boxing from the olympics. Home bias happens in every sport at every olympics, not just boxing. We have had lucky decisions in cycling, rowing and sailing so far that we would never get if it wasnt at home. Rewatch the cycling and watch Phil Hindes fall off his bike deliberately to help us get gold.....or the joke situation that happened this week in the badminton Thats just the way things go at the olympics- its half sport, half politics, always has been
Those have been ''benefit of the doubt'' decisions, we've seen several boxers CLEARLY beaten being given the verdict, not just British ones. It's akin to a judge on the javelin picking one out of the ground, moving it to where they want and then measuring it from there. The IOC should warn the AIBA that such blatantly bent decisions, or sheer incompetence won't be tolerated. It's the biggest sporting event in the world, and boxing is clearly the worst in terms of officiating and procedures.
have the indians forgot about the last commonwealth games where everything went their way? they are still moaning about the krishan decision being overturned from what i can tell and he clearly lost that fight.
