This is a big fight for him. Win and he is on top of the world. Lose and he may never see an opportunity like this again.

He busted his ass in training camp and is in top shape. I think he has a good chance to pull this off. If he can avoid getting trapped I think he can continue to counter and steal round after round.

    And the new......

    I agree with Shane.

El Indio is not a bad fighter but this time again he is stepping up to an elite fighter and let me remind you that last time he did, it didn't turn out very well for him, right?

I give Williams a 80/20 advantage on this one based on all the criteria Shane mentioned earlier.

Quintana is a good fighter but will never be a title holder in the 147 lbs division we have today.

You know that situation kinda reminds me of Miranda's situation at 160/168
    :yep

Cotto is a different sort of fighter than Paul Williams though. Williams isn't a big body puncher, Cotto is. Quintana has a good chin...good enough to withstand Williams' punches.

That said I got questions about Quintana's ability to withstand the punishment over 12 rounds.

Paul Williams wasn't hungry tonight. He will learn from this experience just as Quintana learned from the Cotto fight. He didn't had that will, that rage he had against Margarito.

He didn't throw half as much punches he did vs Margarito.

He couldn't. Quintana smothered his output every chance he got.

Also good call on Pantera, C money and Amsterdam :good

Quintana style made it difficult for Williams to throw as many punches. Magarito stayed on the outside far too long early in the fight and allowed Williams to get off. Quintana smothered Williams a little bit more and he showed much better ring generalship against Williams.

Good call. I'm still surprised that Quintana did it, but he has learned from the Cotto loss and is now a better fighter.

Cotto is a lot smaller than Williams. Not as easy to smother and hold on to.

Quintana is not a hard guy to hit if you are around his size. Problem for Williams tonight was that he was big and WEAK. If he had some kind of strength to shove Quintana off of him the openings would have been there. He just didn't or couldn't for some reason.
