Great performance by SRL against an over the hill, but still tough Hagler.

BTW,at the time i wasnt astonished that ray won,and im sure other fans would say the same;the fighter of the decade outpointed a very battle worn champ. The size of the event,lay- off etc embellishes this feat.People focus too much on SRL negatives(lay-off,size)but not Haglers(tough career, loss of speed etc)
Impressive, but not out of this world impressive.

HUH:huh how does 3 second and three missed punches equal to Hagler being a shot fighter ? what about the 18 min of fighting before that and the 18 min after when Hagler was clearly the fresher fighter of the 2 in round 12.

Ray was just quicker on his feet , a advantage everyone knew he had going into the fight.. Hager just wanted to keep punches going in ray direction to keep the pressure going, you notice he not putting any real power on those shots just enough to keep ray backing up ..

Lebron James is also washed up, just look at the footage lately against Boston.

If Boston gets by him there should be a definate asterik next to their achievement, just like with Leonard.

Hagler wasn't shot, he was past his prime and looked more hittable and slow against Mugabi than usual, but Ray was a smaller guy who'd fought just once (unimpressively) in the previous 5 years.

Bull**** mr agenda. Leonard was an inactive fighter out of his weight division. Evens things up in my book.

Hagler wasn't shot but was severely declined, in a comparable state to today's Hopkins. Still able to be competitive, not able to hit the gas for a full fight, along with a loss of handspeed, reflexes and flexibility.

But credit to Leonard is due, as he wasn't at his best, either. I do agree, though, that this accomplishment sounds better than it really was. Any A-grade fighter with his legs would have been trouble for Marvin that night.

hagler wasnt shot he still managed to box 12 good rounds at a good pace, he just lost to the better guy on the night and remember he only lost by split decision, its not as if he went down 3 or 4 times and was hanging on to the final bell.
in my book hagler is a legend, a truly great middleweight!!!!

hagler was holding back in hopes of getting a lucrative rematch. even still, i thought hagler pressed the fight...landed the better punches and just out worked leonard over the 12 rounds. haglers behavior was very peculiar in that bout. i.e. fighting orthodox the first few rounds....trying to box the boxer....and dancing around at the end of the bout. i also believe hagler carried duran in hopes of getting bigger fights. anyone who is old enough to remember will tell u hagler was a beast.
