So I am trying to plan out a trip to Vegas in July with some friends to see the Cotto/Margo fight. What can we expect to spend on tickets? I know that obviously where we sit matters, but can someone give me an approximate price breakdown for some cheaper (but decent) tickets. And can a person get good deals from scalpers at all, or are you better off buying in advance? Thanks!
You definitely need to buy in advance if you want decent seats at decent prices. I'd expect to pay $120, at least, for one decent seat, considering the magnitude and location of the event.
We don't know what the pricing is going to be yet. The noosebleed seats for Hopkins-Calzaghe were $350 but this should be much less. You'll probably have to spend about $200-300 for a good seat I'd guess or $50-100 for nosebleeds. I may be wrong about this but you may be able to call the box office and request a certain section. So in other words if you want a seats in the $200 sections you can pick the one that is best bang for the buck and even request an isle seat. I'd recommend doing this on opening day to be safe.
There's a chance I might be going to this too. I'll need to convince some friends who aren't really fans of boxing to buy expensive-ass tickets though. But it shouldn't be hard to convince them, since there's more to do in Vegas than watch fights and a night at a club doesn't cost that much less than the cheapest tickets anyways. I'm thinking about telling them that if they bet enough on Cotto it'll be a free trip, but if that doesn't work out in the end then I'm a bit ****ed. Damn, this would be so much fun to go to.. a guaranteed exciting fight with a fun Mexican/Puerto Rican crowd and one of my favorite fighters in the sport against a guy who I've talked **** about for a while.
Save your money for a little bit and wait until De La Hoya vs Mayweather 2 in Vegas. Now that's a real fight.
Wow, how could I forget about this? I think I'll save up all my money, sell my car, and buy ringside seats to it so one day I could say to my grandchildren that I saw the PBF-DLH 2 war live and up close. :yikes
I would think twice about getting tickets from scalpers. Many of the scalpers you see in Vegas are plain clothes LVMPD - and they aggressively enforce the law. My advice to you is: A) Call ticketmaster one hour prior to the tickets go on sale. Repeatedly use redial to get through ASAP to speak with an agent. I tried to get tickets through Ticketmaster for PBF vs Hatton and those assholes told me the tickets were sold out within five minutes after the tickets went on sale. Bull****. Later discovered Tickemaster sold most of the tickets to independent brokers prior to the tickets going on sale. B) Get tickets from independent tickets brokers, e.g., Stubhub, Tickets Galore, etc. This content is protected You will likely pay two or three times the amount you normally would pay through an independent ticket broker than you would through Ticketmaster.
somtimes the hotel/center can sell tickets which also a good alternative, american express has some deals with ticketmaster that you can preoder tickets. another way is if your lucky find some on ebay make sure there legit pay through paypal just incase. by law sellers have to sell at the srp or its considered scalping but good luck also check back every day/week becuase ticketmaster somtimes just release tickets in small waves or selling returns
I'll be in Vegas from May 30th - June 3rd. I was going to go to the Judah/Mosley fight but it has been cancelled
Yep exactly my problem with trying to get more friends to come along. Tickets are going to be expensive! I also thought about telling them to put a chunk of money on Cotto and the trip will be free but its boxing and anything can happen (even though I only give Margo a 10% chance of winning this one). Let me know if you end up going, we could meet up and talk boxing for hours and all our friends can then talk **** behind our backs about how obsessed we are
I'm going to be out there then and hope to get tickets. The thing is, this isn't a De La Hoya fight, so getting them should be easy. I waited like three weeks after the Pac/Morales II tickets went on sale for the Thomas & Mack Center, and there were lots of $50 seats still left. I believe that arena seats about 19k, while the MGM is 17. Mandalay is only 12k or something like that. Getting ticket info in advance is difficult, but I did find a link where one of the Pac/Morales fights had $75 seats at the MGM. I'd happily pay that much for Cotto/Margarito, and truthfully, this fight won't do any better (if as well) as Pac/Morales. The other thing is planning a place to stay. Before this thing becomes official, you'll want to book a room. You can always cancel the reservation if things don't work out. As it turns out, I was already booked at the MGM in advance for a super cheap rate, so that rocks. The MGM is running $200 on Friday right now and $230 on Saturday. If you don't want to mess with that, you can stay on the South strip pretty cheaply at Excalibur (it sucks, but hey. ...) or move up north about 20 minutes of walking (but on a hot part of the Strip) to Bally's or the Imperial Palace, which probably will be close to $100 per weekend night.
