could you suggest any fights that really showcase his power?

The right hand was a killer. Certainly one of the better right hands in history, and among the very best in his weight. Which boxer under 200lbs had one as quick and destructive as his? Louis? Marciano? Dempsey? Not bad names the mentioned with...

 

I also heard Johansson destroyed Henry Cooper in similar fashion.

 

The ref did a find job with this fight.

Machen out on his feet, out cold, and his people attneded to him, and helping him recover, and what does Bozo the clown do?? Yep count to ten like it would relly change anything.

Amazing Machen claim this fight was stop eary or something to the claim. The film cleary shows the fight was not stop at all. The ref gave him plenty of time to get up. Of couse what if Machen did some how beat the count?? Does he get DQ for having people from his team in the ring? Well they be push out??

 

Apart from Patterson ,and Machen his kos over top men are rather scarce ,imo.The Cooper ko was good but Ingo did not meet a lot of top Americans,his resume is a bit thin imo.

 

Can't believe

1) The corner did not throw in the towel before those last 5 or 6 bombs landed.

2) The ref. did not stop it before those last 5 or 6 bombs landed.

But what about the corner in the ring, checking on Machen, and helping him recover, while Bozo the clown just stands counting over them.
He would think once his saw Machen's people in the ring, tended to him, he would stop counting??? Nope, he just goes on counting.

 

The sad thing is that these kind of things still happen today and probably will never go.

 

But with the Kirkman/Frazier stops coming at the end of his career with Eddie well past it (many iron-chinned fighters show stoppages at the very end of a career) it make Ingo's stoppage that much more impressive.

Anyone see him Johannson in "All the Young Men''? A 1960 Korean War drama with Alan Ladd, Sidney Poitier, and an ensemble cast. Ingo played a Swedish U.N. soldier in their platoon. Had a couple of scenes with Alan & Sidney, seemed pretty relaxed in front of a camera. I think he told Ladd a story about how special Christmas in Sweden was.
Must have been filmed between Patterson 1 & 2.
