Guys like Chris Hoy, Matthew Pinsent (as well as other olympians) etc have sought help from Loughborough at times to give them that edge. The point i'm trying to make is, before you get to the practical side, there has to be a theoretical background - now would you rather the theory that leads to the practical side applicable to you be coming from a polytech or a top proven institution?
I'll back up chilli&lemon here, he's got a point, he's not saying Tabares et al are ****; far from it! To use a different example, my Aunt is a well respected research scientist who specialises in GM crops etc. She recently got herself an allotment and for the first time starting growing veg and pots etc. There are guys at the plot who have grown veg for 50 years, people with first hand experience with allotments and veg competitions. Anyway, after 9/10 months there's this veg growing competition, all the old guys are giving it the Big 'Un saying how they're going to win, they have the biggest parsnips ( :yep ) etc. She quietly accepts the banter and says "We'll see come competition day". This day comes the old guy brings out his big parsnip (I think it was a parsnip), all cocky, thinking he's the Big Boy. It was massive (apparently). Then my aunt brings hers out. Whose was bigger? My aunt had the bigger parsnip. Moral of the story: Experience in a certain field (S&C or parsnip growing) is good but will most likely be beaten by someone shithot academic who has been carrying out cutting edge research in that field. I think thats what chilli&lemon was trying to say.
Agreed. Finally, someone who can read between the lines of what i'm saying and understand its context.
Good Fighters have come out of there Gym for years. Now either all the good Talent in this Country must come out of Sheffield, or they are doing something right. :yep
Ludicrous to suggest he should leave the Ingles. Some of the comments on here about them are just pathetic.
I'm not blaming the Ingles for his conditioned etc, but whatever the **** that **** was between rounds was a joke. Half the time was spent shouting to get some water FFS
The Ingle style is somewhat, exciting but dangerous at the same time, like many folks say the basic fundamentals don't exist within the gym, i have said it for years! when up against the cream, the textbook style will rise. Personally i think Kell needs to stop pissing around between fights, his lifestyle on-leave is questionable, i will give him the benefit of doubt on his fight at the weekend. What with the newborn, along with all the hype/media attention gained over the last 12 months! Let's remember this has been his busied period as a pro..
Isn't Floyd a gym junkie, addicted to being in shape between training camps? His stamina probably owes more to that inherent attitude than any S&C coach. Btw there have not been any polytechnics in the UK for around 20 years.
This is true. Brook is **** all like Naz, nor like Bomber Graham whose influence on the gym and on subsequent fighters was huge. Brian Anderson was an 'Ingle fighter'. So was John 'Buster' Keeton ffs who fought like a whirling dervish scrapper. As for Kell, the problem was weight. He ****ed up and had to spend time in fight week getting down. He probably gassed because of this. What is the one thing that Dominic Ingle doesn't do? His diet. He's done it for Witter since Judah and he's always been in shape, on weight and strong. He does it for Kid Galahad. He used to do it for Nelson. For whatever reason, Kell likes to do his own nutrition.
Maybe! Question about weight regarding trainers!! is it normal practice for trainers not calculate that important factor 14 days from fight night? surely that is part of the program is it not? If it's so evident to his promoter down in Essex "Kell is a huge WW" why is it not so important to someone spending the biggest part of 17 years?
Considering Ingle is a competitive bodybuilder(not sure he still competes) you'd assume he has pretty good knowledge about nutrition and dropping weight
The trainer can monitor all he likes...if a fighter then ****s up for some reason from Day 7 to Day 4, that's down to him, surely...especially when that fighter has insisted on sorting his own diet.
a body builder is absolutely no hope to a boxer. Body builders arent athletes they just bulk up, kinda the opposite to what a boxer needs
