Instead of the Patterson 2 defense, Ingo "mans up" and gives Sonny Liston a shot at the
    Hvwt Title in Summer 1960.

Liston is coming off the quick k.o.'s of Cleveland Williams (Ft 2) and Roy Harris in 2 or less rounds respectively.

Ingo states at the contract signing: "Me & Sonny's last recent opponents lasted a grand total of 6 rounds total....so the fans should see some real fireworks."

    Who wins?

Liston but Ingo does better than Floyd did against Sonny. (Not much of a limb since Floyd was ko'd twice in one round) I think Ingo's right hand and the fact he circled a lot waiting to unleash it gives Sonny something to think about for a couple rounds.
    Liston Tko round 5

Ingo would survive longer because he would be back pedalling as he did against Sanders in the Olympics, whether you could call that doing better is a matter of opinion .

I think it is a 50-50 fight on paper. The result could go toward providing the final piece in the jigsaw in being able to say Liston truly cleaned out that era.

1960 Liston was certainly good enough to win. Not sure 1959 Sonny was quite ready.

I think Ingo was an enigma. Johansson Could have been great but Floyd snuffed him out. Fighting each other three times both Floyd and Ingo’s career stagnated since it took three whole years to resolve.

Sonny came along to pick up the pieces after the dust settled. Which might be making him look even more phenomenal.

It would have been much better if all three fought each other before 1961.

Ingo did better against Machen. Liston might have been more wary since Sonny was not hard to hit. And Ingo was fast.

Liston would stop him. Ingo's right hand was enormously powerful but he was a one trick pony.

The trouble with one trick pony’s is they can still be extremely dangerous for guys susceptible to a right hand counter.

Liston is superior in chin, jab ,left hook .and not for behind in right hand.Bottom line Sonny could take Ingo's shot but Ingo couldn't take his , he was starched by Floyd FFS! = Charles Sonny Liston by devastating ko ,as soon as Ingo stops running.

Especially when they are fighting Foreman or Liston, or Tyson for that matter. They are eaten up by Louis and Marciano however, yeh?

    Hater in da house!

Yes yes, here we go again. Hatred... tut tut.

Do you genuinely think you have the right to go through life without ever hearing a sore word about your beliefs or ideas? it’s just extraordinary.

I’ve already said Sonny is certainly good enough to win.
