I'm surprised nobody mentioned that Ingo was down and out at the final bell in his last contest, against London, which he won on points. Despite this I rate him just behind Liston and Patterson(and Clay) in the period 1955-65. Juat ahead of Moore, Folley, Machen, Terrell, Cooper, Jones, Williams, Chuvalo and Cleroux. Where do you guys rate these guys and/or DeJohn, Harris, Mildenberger , Valdez, London or whoever...oops Harold Johnson?
Your list is pretty good--in order, here is mine--Ali, Liston, Patterson, Johansson, Johnson, Machen, Folley, Terrell, Williams, Cooper. I would rate Moore in the 1946 to 1955 era, but if he has to be put in here, and we are talking about his whole career, he comes in fourth between Patterson and Johansson. Valdes is also of the 1946 to 1955 era. If rated on this list, I would put him between Terrell and Williams.
good list. i think clevleand williams h2h rates a bit higher, he drew with machen in a fight most thought he won, hurt and broke listons nose, knocked out terell and lost a controversial split decision in the rematch in which he floored terell and many thought he won. williams had blazing speed, a trait the other big powerful men of his era did not pocesss my ratings would be 1. ali 2. liston 3. patterson 4. johansson 5. C williams 6. E Terell 7. H johnson 8. Z folley 9. machen 10. Valdez
o dear, lets hope MF does not see this. he will come back with his newspaper articles how johansson suffered nothing more than a quick flash knockdown unhurt.
America would be a great place if there were no Europeans and Joe Hipp would be the GOAT heavyweight champion?
