It would have been interesting if after the arm wrestling match if they had agreed to a title match as Sonny was probably still a champion at that time. But then Liston probably injured Ingo's Bingo right hand during the arm wrestling match.
Rumor has it that Ingo won the arm wrestling match and Choklab to this day uses it as irrefutable proof that Ingo would wreck Liston.
Ya, well I'm sure Hulk Hogan would beat George Foreman in an arm-wrestling match, but Hogan had the crap beat out of him by Foreman in a sparring match.
Listons hand size alone would put ingo at big disadvantage in arm wresting contest, that is even before considering Listons out the out and out strength and power.
I doubt Hogan beats Foreman in an Arm wrestling match. And i certainly doubt Hogan starts Hulking up in sparring. So it all seems rather pointless doesnt it?
Great picture! They both seem to be having a good time. Would be interesting to know if they actually did arm wrestle. If this meeting took place in September, 1963 at the same time as the photo of Liston and Brian London was taken, Sonny definitely would have been the champion at the time. Earlier that year Ingo was fortunate to sqeak by Brian London and probably decided it best to hang 'em up. While it may have been an interesting matchup, I think Sonny would have ended matters early.
I have never seen it either, but I read about it one time, it was a 3-round sparring session the two did for a charity in the early 90s; Hogan said George was way faster than he appears on tv, and that George hit him w/ a big punch that caused one of his legs to go entirely limb and he barely finished the sparring session.
