We know Carnera won fixed fights the only question is ,against who and how many? Two at top level would be the Stribling fights. Would you like me to give you advance warning when I'm going to post so that you can get a bullet ready for me ?Or are you happy to just continue taking pot luck with your sniping?LOL
Do you think they weren't? Carnera down from low blow in 4th. This bout was probably fixed.
I've never looked into them, but I have looked into enough fights to know that boxrec comments are not reliable at all, including regarding claims about fights being fixed. It doesn't help when boxrec doesn't even list a sourcwe for that claim.
Bud Shulberg and his Father were ringside for the London fight ,they thought it was a fix and Bud said so in a book. Got any quotes that say ANY of BB's opponents were told not to try and win?
I looked at a few next day reports of Stribling and Carnera's fight in England, though not enough to come to a firm conclusion, and can't see anything suggesting it was fixed. Stribling claimed that Carnera parried his punch and deflected it low. The fight had actually been hard fought, with both going down before the DQ (though it seems to was more the weight of Carnera rushing in knocking Stribling over, than a proper knock down). Carnera even had a black eye after the fight.
I never said anything about Butterbean's fights being fixes. People say all sorts of stuff years later. Our memory is far from perfect, and can easily be distorted by what you're told later. If there's not any suspicion at the time, then claims about it looking fixed years later really aren't worth taking seriously. The reports are of a hard fought fight, where both went down, and gave Carnera a black eye. Looking through the papers I don't see any suspicion from the time that it wasn't on the level
My mind is always open to being changed. But it'd need to be something a lot more convincing than "I watched it years ago when I was 15 and it was fixed", when from what I've seen the sports journalists writing at the time said it was hard fought, and didn't find it suspicious.
Frankly the claims of Jeffries Fitz's II being fixed (which I don't believe in the slightest) have vastly better evidence.
Haha! Very good. However, in ALL seriousness, BINGO is trade marked. Use reserved ONLY for the true GOAT. I guess my man INGO won't mind, JUST this one time though. NEVER again, otherwise the whole of Val Halla will descend upon you and wreak revenge. Hammer of Fat is also off limits. Too close to the original and people might get confused as to who you're talking about. Suffice to say, INGO himself did become a bit girthy in his later years.
