Ingo really only won 2 fights of significance in his ascendance to
the Hvywt Championship....#1 ranked Eddie Machen and Patterson #1.
(though stoppages of a young Henry Cooper and a 32-1-1 Joe Eskine could be
considered significant also..... "Erskine, the British Empire champion from Cardiff, Wales had been promised a shot at Floyd Patterson's world crown in London in June of '58 if he could upset the favored Johansson.") In Ingo's very last fight of his career, he barely beat the count in the 12th & final round to defeat Brian London on pts.

Jerry Quarry from 1968-1975 basically fought many of the top contenders & Champs of his era, winning and losing various fights as is well known.

Would Quarry walk through Ingo's right hands and k.o. Ingo?

Interested to hear some feedback. I would favor Quarry to take a decision, not sure about a stoppage. Sounds like a fairly matched fight, but I have never thought about this one before.

Quarry too smart to get caught by the big one from Ingo. He'd know what to watch for and box him to death. Knowing Jerry , he'd not even do that, because I doubt he'd have the respect for him like he did say, Lyle. He would bang and counter first, and if he got cracked, he'd go into box mode until under control again.

I doubt there's much Ingo could do to ruffle Jerry.

Jerry counters the crap out of him and stops him sometime after 5 or 6.

I pick Quarry by late stoppage. The only way I see Ingo winning is if Jerry slugs with him, which is a possibility ala Quarry vs Chuvalo.

Jerry stops the Swede who didn't have much of a resume.I'd pick Shavers to do the same.

Quarry was much too rounded for Ingo, just a better all round fighter, and he could go in there and hang tough with punchers.
There's no doubt though that Ingo's right hand was a potent weapon, and Quarry would have to be wary, but I think he'd stop Ingo at some point.

Johansson by knockout. I just can’t see Quarry going 10 or 12 rounds without screwing up and Johansson making him pay dearly for it. Quarry had the tools to fight and beat anyone, but showed a few too many times that he wouldn’t stick to game plans and could get suckered into a firefight.

Quarry by ko ,by at least round 7.
I see Ingos Bingo landing a few times on Jerry's jaw but have the feeling he'd take it better than Floyd somehow.

A good match-up. In a top 100 scenario I might have Quarry ahead, he has by far the deeper resume. Head to head though I agree with Unforgiven, Jerry lost a lot of pivotal fights, and not alone could Ingo punch very hard and accurately but he is very underestimated in his ability to set itf up. Johansson by KO.

Eras aside, it could go either way but...Patterson said it wasn't the 'Bingo' that did him in it was Ingo's jab (granted no left hook to speak of from Ingo). IMO that jab would have had Quarry on his toes. Does Jerry move forward or retreat to the ropes inviting Ingo in with his counter punching skills? I've said this before but Jerry's KO power is a tad overrated; he had to wear you down. There's also the issue of cuts.
Could Ingo have cut Quarry? IMO Ingo's right hand on the button would be just as powerful, if not more so, as Joe's LH.
Sidebar: Quarry would NOT out 'box' Johannson.
But, it could go either way.
