Lost one of my gloves, trained with gym supplied gloves and have injured my knuckle/tendon/something on my left hand, 2nd index finger aka middle finger. Any advice please? It's fine except when pressure is applied either steadily e.g. without glove on, when wrapped and obviously bag/pad punching. I am at a crucial point of training and don't want to stop so could really do with some advice. Can I just work through the pain with some sponge padding perhaps to protect it or will it damage it more? If I need to rest it, how long? This seems a common injury and I just wondered what other people's experience of it was so that I can make an educated decision. Thank you!

If it's tendon you need to rest. If you keep training then you risk ****ing up your hand. I once did the same and it took 8 weeks for it to recover because I trained through it, forcing me to rest for almost 2 months instead of maybe 1-3 weeks

Trust me, if you train with it and one punch lands wrong then prepare for a lot of pain and a bigger injury

If its just bruised i get that all the time the pains goes after a day or two. If its something more serious it will take longer. Is it swollen ?

If you even suspect a knuckle injury then back off and train the other hand. They take months to go away if you aggravate them. And there will be days when you can't even hit mitts without wanting to cry lol.

Once you're back, SPONGES IN THE HANDWRAPS. There's really no reason that every boxer shouldn't do this all the time.

    Sounds like a bruised knuckle.

I've had those before. If you train with it, it won't heal very fast.

Shadow box and work on cardio, leave the glove work out for a couple weeks and you should be good to go.

Let it heal dude. There's tons of drills and other activities to keep you going while you wait for the injury to get better. So don't worry about not being active.
I've found it to be a lot more difficult to have a knee (or any type of leg) injury and still try to be active. You literally need your legs for just about everything. I couldn't even go out for a simple run for over 3 months :(
