Just thought id see what you guys have been through when training. Personally i have had 2 shoulder reconstructions, both on the left side. I dislocated my shoulder doing military press with two dumbells and after that it kept dislocating. Had surgery and required 3 months rehab which was ok i guess. Dislocated it again hitting the heavy bag a year and a bit ago... surgery not as bad this time but still lengthy rehab. 2 weeks ago i strained my pectoral muscle doing dips. Being a med student i knew i hadnt ruptured it because i had no bruises and could still move around alot. I am getting really good results icing it 3 times a day, taking glucosamine, stretching twice daily and then using the rowing machine rather than doing weights. Anyone else had a pectoral strain, if so, what methods did you use to treat it?
i think i strained my medial ligament in my knee while running, it was hurting for a few days but then i didn't run for 2 weeks and the pain disapeared, i went running again last week and the pain came back, for some reason though when i sprint it doesn't really bother me. any tips anyone?
its most likely a Medial Collateral Ligament Strain mate. Which one sounds like you... Grade 1 symptoms: Mild tenderness on the inside of the knee over the ligament Usually no swelling When the knee is bent to 30 degrees and force applied to the outside of the knee (stressing the medial ligament) pain is felt but there is no joint laxity (looseness) Grade 2 symptoms: Significant tenderness on the inside of the knee over the medial ligament Some swelling seen over the ligament When the knee is stressed as for grade 1 symptoms, there is pain and laxity in the joint, although there is a definite end point (the knee cannot be bent sideways completely). Grade 3 symptoms: The MCL is torn completely Pain can vary and is sometimes not as bad as that of a grade 2 sprain due to nerve damage When stressing the knee there is significant joint laxity The athlete may complain of having a very wobbly or unstable knee Grade 1 is not so bad... alternate between RICE and heat for 3 times a day over a weekly period. But id still go see a physio so you can get some ultrasound treatment
yeah thats not so bad just lay off it for a while and use hot and cold treatments like i said after a few days see how it feels to go for a fast paced walk and let that be your guide
I've got some impingement and tendonitis in both shoulders. Supposed to go to the physio but haven't yet. Icing and rubbing them has helped a bit.
no im just interested to hear peoples stories and help people if they have a question because i have 1000 times the medical knowledge you will ever have
well hot damn, What am i doing paying all this money for health insurance when I can ask a med student from australia over the internet for free
