Alright lads. Ive re-damaged an old shoulder injury, and tore my chest up pretty bad, feels like ive damaged a rib cos the pain shoots straight thru to my back, and i cant train. cant even ****ing run! managed about 2miles today at the most before i had to bin it. (15 ****ing mins for 2 miles! i run 3 miles in 18 mins on a good day! ) cant box. cant do circuit training, or press-ups, pull-ups. nothing . any advice to speed up the recovery? At the moment ive got the missus massaging me morning, noon and night and ive been using that deep heat spray ****, which seems to be helping a little but not enough. I need to train! Any advice?
Nah mate **** that, it sounds expensive and i'm not a ******. i'm not trying to be macho neither, ive just always worked thru injuries in the past with light exercise til i could train at full strength again. (probably an old army habit, cos you had to be ****ing half dead before you got a day off! and if you went to sickbay and they said there was **** all wrong with you then it was off to jail for a beasting) But that idea's ****ed cos i cant train at all :-(
seeing a chiro practor could be the best thing for you. It was for me when I couldnt run or box for 2 months, I had tight nerves due to a stiff spine. Had it loosened up and ready to go within 10 minutes. The whole time the doctors were telling me I had damaged my ligaments and needed more rest, I just got stiffer and worse. Went 4 times and now I'm totally over the problem and don't go anymore, took a few months like.
Cheers for the reply's lads. just googled chiropractors in my local area an it turns out there's one just up the road, so think i'll have a walk on tomorrow.
dude....I hear ya, sometimes the regular doctors know **** about sports injuries. I had a pinched nerve in my neck which caused to have pain on right side of my face, but then it also went down my shoulder and right hand,,,,i couldnt throw any punches because of it, all because of a hyperextension. My physician diagnosed it all as neurological problem, and sent me to a neurologist to perform a cat scan on my brain. A personal trainer friend of mine told me that its was a pinched nerve, told me to massage it out and strech that side of my shoulder/neck....and it helped, no cat scan was needed. Chiropractor would know best what to do in these types of situations....physicians dont know it seems, at least my doctor seems to be a dumbass
There are definetly some crackpot chiros, or straight chiros. They claim to cure everything, including the common cold, with adjustments and many of them just take your money. Good ones are inexpensive, and very helpful for these kinds of injuries. I recommend an Applied Kinesiologist. They will do proper muscle testing to see what the root of the problem is and will be able to correct it with manipulation and exercises.
Sounds like you've torn an intercostel muscle, i've done it twice its a ***** just recovering from a tear now. Nothing speeds up the repair but training through it will defiately delay it and take it beyond the six week mark. Every time you re tear you are adding knots to the muscle. I'd take the time to rest, yu should be able to run again within 10 days then slowly get back into the boxing and upperbody work.:thumbsup
6 ****ing weeks?? oh man! i'll go mad before then! But yeah cheers for the advice mate, i'm not stupid, i'll wait for it to heal proper before i start training again. i can run after about 10 days you reckon? thats not so bad i spose...***** about the boxing/upperbody work tho... Cheers :good
Maybe sooner if your a fast healer. I had exactly the same problem and like I said it was actually a relief when it was diagnosed because initially the thought it was a serious rotator cuff injury which is a permanant thing. If its really bad you should do nothing but rest but if its becoming more managable I can't see minor movement hurting it to bad. The running should start as soon as possible but try and use your time positively. There's always something to do, something new to learn. Are you having problems sleeping at night?
Yeah, just cant get comfortable enough to sleep mate. but yeah, fortunately i am a fast healer :good It is becoming a little more bearable tho, as long as i dont put much weight on my right arm or raise it. thing is, ive got a ****ing mock battle type thing this weekend, a mate of mine wants me to go with them to a place where they do all the dress up like medievil army types and fight it out. plastic swords an that but still, its gonna hurt! :-(
Rib injuries can take up to a year to heal. Muscle injuries always take time to heal months in most cases. The only cure is rest.
