Carl Froch's assault on world honours might have to be delayed.
Britishboxing.net understands that Denis Inkin is having trouble making the scheduled March 29th date at Froch's hometown Nottingham Arena due to as yet unspecified medical grounds.
The fight was to be for the Russian's WBC International title in the super-middleweight division but, more importantly, was to serve as a final eliminator for Joe Calzaghe's full WBC belt.
Froch and Inkin are the respective numbers one and two in the organisation's rankings.
If Inkin is unable to make March 29th, it is not yet known whether promoters Hennessy Sports will look to move the show to a later date or draft in a late notice opponent for Froch. If the latter, it is unlikely that the bout would retain its final eliminator status.
Many hardcore British fight fans are particularly looking forward to the chief supporting bout, a potential ******* between Sheffield's John Fewkes and Manchester's John Murray for the English lightweight title.

    ======================================

Russian Denis Inkin has pulled out of the scheduled WBC eliminator fight with Nottingham's Carl 'the Cobra' Froch.

Froch, who is in the shape of his life, was delivered the crushing news upon landing back in the UK following his first intensive international training camp.

At present, Inkin has notified his promotion team to tell them that he is unable to fight due to a 'virus'.

"Training has been immense, the timing, power and accuracy of my shots left me in no doubt that Inkin would be in serious trouble come March 29th... I feel bullet-proof" Said Froch today.

"The news came yesterday and immediately Mick Hennessy calmly dealt with the problem at hand by offering the chance to fight me, to every top name in the division. "

" Edison Miranda turned the fight down... , so did European champion Cristian Sanavia point blank. .... Also Canadian Jean Fruit Pastille he didn't want the chance to fight for the WBC eliminator either "

"Mikkel Kessler, who needs plenty of time to make the weight and is coming back from a hand injury understandably required more notice..maybe that can happen soon regardless"

As yet the show may yet be filled with a suitable high-calibre opponent or it may be decided to wait for Denis Inkin to recover from his 'mystery illness'.

Thats a shame I really wanted to see how Froch stood up against a decent prime opponent.

Unlike a lot of people I dont mind him, yes he may come across a bit arrogant but I dont find that as annoying as getting Ricky Hattons "humbleness" shoved in my face every time I hear him these days.

Jean Fruit Pastille = Jean Pascal, presumably...

...and to think that the promoter of a fighter called Frotch thinks it's a good idea to start cockney rhyming slang slag-offs. :rofl :-( :yep :patsch:lol:

Hard to say...maybe no one did and it's all hype. After all, the promoter knows that if this is a bona fide injury, as covered by he rules, Inkin deserves to have the fight rescheduled.

"Jean Fruit Pastille" is pretty funny, actually...I might have to steal that one ;)

Terrible shame for Froch, this was building up to be a real "coming out" fight for him. Hope they can get someone decent in but it won't be the same.

Big shame if this fight does not come off on the required date. I wonder if ITV will allow Hennessy to reshedule the fight? It would be a pity if they lost television coverage.

I would imagine that they all did but for a fair enough reason, 3 weeks is not a great deal of notice. Still reckon he could get someone in the WBC top 10.

    what about Howard Eastman?
