On a random note, the opponent for Takei who's fighting on the same day finally got announced but the name essentially confirms that their first choice negotiations fell through and they pulled a last minute backup. I can't see how Yuttapong Tongdee would've been so hard to negotiate if that was who they were negotiating to begin with prior to Inoue-Goodman announcement.
How many of those fighters are actually worth a damn? He wouldn't be doing this at that higher weights where he'd be facing more quality opposition.
1 champion, 1 former multi-weight champion, and 2 top rated guys. All 4 were rated in the Top 10 at 122. He's fighting the best guys in a new division. When he moves to 126, those guys can get it too.
Only big mark against him that could have really helped his resume a lot was not being able to seal a fight with Chocolatito or Estrada while he was still at Super Flyweight. Other than that what he's doing is remarkable.
It really says something when the that best opponent even the most devoted fans can claim are a "Regular" beltholder and a non-titlist on a catchweight and rehydration clause added on.
Tapales and nery were not in their prime and I don't think any of those fighters are anything special either. Nery has no defense and was just swinging wildy like a bar fighter. The standards are just low in those divisions in general, and dominated by domestic fighters who just fight their whole careers in Japan against Japanese fighters for example. The small guys seem to get a pass for some reason and fighters in higher divisions are held to a much higher standard.
Well, those higher standards of the higher divisions certainly has created many high quality champions such as Lamont Roach, Anthony Cacace, Rolly Romero, Isaac Cruz, Mario Barrios, Brian Norman Jr, Carlos Adames, William Scull, and so on just this past year alone. Face of boxing Canelo took on such high quality opponents such as Edgar Berlanga, and the fan proclaimed face of the boxing Tank Davis fought the great Frank Martin who screams future P4P champion. By the way I had no idea that Fulton, Tapales, Nery, Goodman, MJ, Donaire, Santiago, Rodriguez, Moloney, and Narvaez were domestic Japanese fighters. I guess in about 2 years Espinoza, Robeisy, Leo, Figueroa, Nick Ball (or whoever he loses to in the near future if someone else), and just for giggles Bruce Carrington are all going to become domestic Japanese fighters too.
Oh theres irrational hate for Inoue in this place too? I though that **** would only be in facebook.. with Casimero's idiotic fans.
