I think p4p rankings are obsessed with the tiny guys. I remember when Chocolatito was p4p 1 and I just lol’d, because it’s obvious when you watch someone if they’re special or not.

Inoue is special, but he’s not that type of special. He’s not special like when I saw prime Tyson, or SRL, or RJJ, or a Pac or Floyd, or even more recently, like a prime Rigondeaux or Lomachenko.

Those guys were being carried by something God-given, the way they moved, there was nothing like it. A bit like if you watched Messi on the field.

Now Inoue, he’s being carried by perfect boxing. Same way Chocolatito was. Or JMM was. They are great, but they’re just a bit below being that ridiculousness that enters boxing and claims no.1.

Guys like Chocolatito and Inoue are going through weight classes, but in weight classes where the talent pool is much lower. And you know it’s much lower because none of these guys can get up to FW and do something. Is it that big weight jump? Nope, it’s simply that talent pool jump.

An example of that is how Pac was beating guys like Sasakul and Ledwaba who were considered the best of their divisions at the time. But going from them to a Barrera, Morales or JMM was a huge jump in talent.

I think the real talent starts at FW. I’d love to see Inoue fight Loma. Loma isn’t even top 10 p4p right now but he would be heavy favourite for me. They can meet at 126/130.

My guess is that most men when stripped down to muscle and bones and relatively small stature starts from FW. I’m referring to men from Mexico and Asia. Very few men are actually flyweights… so the talent pool is much larger.

There’s been many FW ATGs, far fewer ATGs in the 8 weight classes below FW. And 3lbs shouldn’t be new weight class ffs lol.

Awesome fighter, but not even close to Pac. Some people keep trying to make him the new Pac. Nah man. Nope. It doesn't take long to realize watching these videos that this wasn't Stephen freaking Fulton or a 36 year old Donaire. These guys have a hell of a lot more to offer than Stephen Fulton.

If he was so special why didn’t he dominate the p4p rankings for a long time like previous p4p 1s did? I mean that’s a title for the likes of Floyd, pac, bhop, RJJ, srl. Tell me he holds a candle to those guys?

There's a lot of talk about how the talent pool in the weight classes below Featherweight is shallow, but it's not like Heavyweight is full of talent either. Historically, Heavyweight has been weak, simply because there aren't that many 6'3+ 220+ lb men who are relatively athletic and can hit really hard.

I never saw Gonzalez as that great of a fighter. Always thought Inoue would have laid him out if they met.

Inoue just knocked out the #1 guy in a new division. You're seriously underrating him.

HW is 200lb+ unless it’s changed? It’s an open weight class so I’m guessing there’s far more 200lb+ men in the world than there are 115lbs men in the world.

There’s a lot of people in Asia though so I could be wrong!

I’m not, he looks like the perfect boxer. Like boxing taken to the peak with training and dedication. He has good everything else. But he’s lacking that spark of specialness. Whether it’s Floyds speed and defense. RJJ’s superman like abilities. SRLs just maxed out stats on everything. Tyson’s also perfect boxing skills + insane speed and power.

I have him becoming the likes of JMM, Cotto and even Morales. Nothing to scoff at. Legit ATG level by the end of it. But I don’t see him going beyond that. Those guys were never the no.1 guys in boxing, they were top 3 at best.

Historically, heavyweight was not weak and was not filled with 6'3" 220+ men. it was strong and filled with anybody over middleweight who thought they might have a shot at the title because that's where the big money was.

Marciano, Patterson, Louis, Holyfield, Frazier, Charles, Moore, Tunney, Braddock, Tommy Burns, Spinks and every light heavy that ever tried for it... I mean, I could go on.

I'm not sure I buy into the general arguments being made in this thread that this or that body type or weight equates to more talent at the sport of boxing.

BUT, if heavyweight is weak, and IF it is because of it being filled with giants, that is a contemporary problem, not a historical one.

The reaction to Inoue - just like it was with Chocolatito, circa 2015 - has just highlighted how oblivious fans are.

When it comes to the lower weights they are very late to the party.

It's like picking up Floyd's career from 2010 onwards.

Nah, Inoue way better and explosive than Choco. The only problem with Inoue Is there’s not many fellow atg in his weight range to test him out.Test him etc only career +B Nonito Donaire who was 36-39 years old by that time and had accumulated losses by then.

Bro, you picked Fulton to beat Inoue, but Inoue put on a masterclass boxing clinic before knocking his ass out. Come on, man. STOP THE HATE.
