It's well known that Inoue is the best finisher of our day, one of the hardest punchers pound for pound, has power in both hands in all punches, along with being the best body puncher of our era. But did you know that Inoue is consistently top 5 in Compubox's Plus/Minus ratings? This statistic determines a fighter’s defensive efficiency, detailing how many times they land shots compared to how many shots landed on them. Inoue is consistently #3-#4 pound for pound in this statistic. Has there ever been a fighter as good at offense that is also as good at defense as Naoya Inoue?

If you go to : CURRENT LB FOR LB FIGHTERS WHERE THEY RANK IN COMPUBOX

    https://app2.compuboxdata.com/reports/79

It says Inoue (+14.2) is #3 in +/- amongst P4P Fighters. Stevenson (+20.3) and Bivol (+18.1) are well ahead of him in +/-.

Inoue (35.2%) and Canelo (35.1%) have the best connect %, followed by Bud (34.7%)

Whoops, I didn't realize he had fallen outside of the top 5. I would have rechecked but when I made the post I had no wifi connection and my mobile data was being awful, last time I checked he was #4. I will say though, everyone who has seen the Tank stats knows they're fake. They claimed Hector Luis Garcia only landed 5 jabs despite his jab being the most landed punch of the fight. Even given that, I'd be surprised if he doesn't retake #5 given how drastic his stats vs Fulton were and how close his gap with Tank is. Still, my bad for not rechecking.

I'm a bit confused. What does pound for pound have to do with this? Does CompuBox just mean among all boxers. If so, P4P notation is pointless? If it doesn't mean among all boxers, then what does it mean?

Amongst all boxers it says he's #6 +/-. Amongst Top P4P fighters (whoever they deem as such) it says he's #3. Though it is confusing because some of the values listed amongst all boxers differ from the values in the P4P chart. Like it says Bivol is +17.3 amongst all boxers but +18.1 in the P4P fighter comparison.

I should have used "across all divisions" instead of pound for pound, although if I had noticed this error earlier I could have copped out with Shadow posting that Inoue was #3 among pound for pound fighters. Oh well.

I don't think compubox is reliable enough to use it to determine defensive efficiency. The data is interesting nonetheless. Aside from Shakur, the fighter with the best +/- (by a substantial margin over Inoue) is Bivol, who was the one who beat Canelo which took Canelo out of P4P #1. Inoue hasn't fought anyone like Bivol which would surely lower his +/- as it did Canelo.

If we're going to use +/- as a significant metric to compare P4P fighters or rate defense efficiency, then we also need to realize that Inoue has not fought anyone on that list. Another thing that doesn't make sense is that under CATEGORICAL LEADERS Bud is not listed in the Top 10 +/- but on the P4P Comparison Bud is listed #4 just below Inoue at +13.5.

Some other notes : If we go by the P4P comparison, Canelo and Bivol's combined +/- are higher than Bud and Spence's combined +/-. (by a lot, as Bivol's +/- is significantly higher than Bud's and Canelo's is significantly higher than Spence's) If we go by the Categorical Leader page, the same is true as neither Bud or Spence are on the overall +/- Top 10 list.
