I've not made that argument here. I'm taking about the wear and tear of 350 amateur fights on your body and how Usyk clearly has way more of it than Inoue and has slowed down a lot more than him

It is a big deal. You can do the math for yourself on what the percentage difference it. Or many you can't. That is probably the problem.

I don't think Usyk is overrated. The guy is a bonafide all time great.

That being said, athletes across many sports are able to perform at an older age now than ever before. Look at Tom Brady, Lebron James, Novak Djokovic etc. Trainers have much better understanding of injury management and when to rest and when to fight.

Holmes defended his title 20 times in 7 years. When you are defending your title 3 times a year, even if it is vs average opposition, there is going to be a lot of wear and tear on the body. Yes, Usyk had tons of amateur fights which do cause wear and tear. But i do think defending your title constantly at the pro level is going to cause more wear and tear.

I actually think someone like Holmes would likely be able to fight better at an older age now. I suspect he wouldn't be fighting 3 times a year as champ but rather once or twice.

Usyk beating much bigger fighters is impressive. But there is something called the law of diminishing returns. It is 10 times harder for Innoue to overcome the size difference vs someone like Benavidez than it is for Usyk to overcome size difference vs Fury.

I don't think we can seriously expect a 122-126 lb dude to beat 170-180 lb dudes. But once both men are over 200 lbs, or somewhere close to that, it is possible to overcome such differences.

Joe Louis at 207 lbs ko's 242 lb Budy Baer. Jack Dempsey at 187 lbs ko'd 245 lb Jess Willard. No one would seriously expect Alexis Arguello to ko Bob Foster.

I actually rank Usyk higher than Innoue p4p as i do think he has a stronger resume overall. But i don't think its possible for Innoue to overcome 50 lb differences. A 120-130 lb body simply can't generate enough force to hurt a good fighter 50 lbs bigger. But a 200 + lb body can generate sufficient force to hurt much bigger fighters.

I am not in any way disrespecting Inoue's accomplishment.

If Usyk weighs 220 and Fury weighs 270, then that is about between a fifth and sixth more body weight? (math was never my strong suit).

You agreed it is impressive, so, not argument from me.

Holmes was world class in early 40s if he arised the previous era before now like Klitschko he'd have broken Foremans record beating joshua or Parker or something

I think Usyk remains the number 1 pfp, but he doesn't do himself any favours by only fighting once a year with his next opponent being a well past it Wilder.

Oh yes. I like that too. 210 is big enough for any man.

Let's rewind all the way back to when Usyk was down at CW and talk off him moving up to HW first started or even prior to or when he did first move up.

How many people were part of Team Usyk Can Do it and how many were members of Team He Stands No Chance Those Guys Up at HW are Way too Big and Powerful for him He Won't Even Win a Belt Up There, Let alone Become Undisputed?

    I'll give you a hint

It was like 99% vs 1% see if you can guess which one had the 99% membership?

Those who even gave him a chance of becoming undisputed at HW were like 000.1%

Size or rather lack thereof and those giants being way too big for him was the reason why coming from all their mouths

But now size isn't a big obstacle and disadvantage when he proved them all so wrong

    Regarding Inoue and size

From the data available, he has generally been fighting guys roughly his size or a bit bigger with a few much or way bigger

Here's a great post I just found about Inoue and his opponent's rehydration at 122 for his fights against them

    'Naoya Inoue and opponent rehydration

    All fights at 122lbs

    Inoue 132.5lbs(+10.5) - Fulton 134.7lbs(+12.7)

    Inoue 135.4lbs(+13.4) - Tapales 140.0lbs(+18.0)

    Inoue 136.9lbs(+14.9) - Nery 134.5lbs(+12.5)

    Inoue 138.2lbs(+16.2) Doheny 145.7lbs(+23.7)

    Inoue 138.7lbs(+16.7) - Kim 136.9lbs(+14.9)

Because many of the data are taken from Japanese articles, there are slight errors due to the kg-lbs conversion, but they should be generally accurate.

Doheny was famous for his heavy weight on the day of the fights. Inoue said after the fights that he had added too much weight to counteract the difference and that his body was too heavy. This is probably why he refrained from rehydrating for his most recent fight.

Inoue is not big in the super bantamweight division. What I would like to know is how much featherweight fighters are rehydrated. I know Espinoza was 144.6lbs against Robeisy. Inoue is not a big super bantamweight, so he might struggle with the size difference at 126lbs more than everyone thinks.

PS: According to Top Rank, Inoue 135lbs, Kim 147lbs, but according to the Japanese article, Inoue was the heaviest ever at 62.9kg (138.7lbs).

    https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/e5b3ed7a8245ff3f92b8517423a6b6b8c9f8c8a0

Further note: I think 62.9kg (138.7lbs) is the exact figure since Inoue himself mentioned his weight on the day of the match.

    This article

    https://www.sanspo.com/article/20250125-LIOOA6U2LFLZ7HJBP3QCU2D5QY/?outputType=theme_fight

gives Kim's weight as 62.1kg (136.9lbs); Top Rank reports Inoue 135lbs and Kim 147lbs, which is very different, but the Japanese article is probably more correct. Inoue himself talks about his weight, and another article also says Inoue 62.9kg, Kim 62.1kg.

    https://number.bunshun.jp/articles/-/864561?page=2

Kim does not appear to be 12lbs heavier than Inoue in terms of his physical appearance during the match. And the two reporters who wrote the articles are credible people who have covered Inoue for many years.
Therefore, the numbers in the table above have been corrected.'

I know he was giving away a huge amount of weight vs McDonnell

    Inoue 131 - McDonnell 143-144

Usyk fighting Wilder has to be some sort of humiliation ritual because its makes no sense at all.. Wilder lost X3 to the fella Usyk beat twice.. he hasn't had a semi decent win since 2019.. an old Ortiz.. hes coming off two embarrassingly one sided losses (i don't even count the cringe win over that 38 year old scrub he just beat) to Parker & Zhang.. Wilder is old & hes shot.. ridiculously shot in fact.. there is no need or basis for this fight at all. Fabio Wardley should be the natural next opponent.. or just retire man.. why we gotta stomach this ****..

Deontay Wilder 2026 would be the among the very worst choice challengers for unified heavyweight titles in history.

That was one fight where Wilder tried to put on more weight to counter Furys weight in the clinch

    Very selective by you

As far the the height and reach goes no one makes this argument with other fighters

No one says that Sebastian Fundora is really a heavyweight cause of his height and reach

Usyk and Wilder are around the same weight as heavyweights
