I have a great chin. I've never been dropped or KO'd. Hence why I passed my chin checker degree with flying colours
What's with some of you? It is perfectly reasonable to raise questions about the ability of a fighter to take a punch after they hit the canvas. Chin analysis is part of boxing and has been for a long time. It is thoroughly legitimate and not "trolling." I really find it astonishing that some boxing fans get so emotional when these questions are raised. It's like they can't accept that their favorite fighters might have some weakness. Sorry but this incident raises legitimate questions about Inoue's punch resistance, and we're gonna ask these questions here!!
Inoue got tagged flush by Donaire - one of the hardest hitting bantamweights of all time, who stands shoulder to shoulder with guys like Olivares, Zarate, and McGovern who all had the God-given power to remove great men from their senses with only a single punch - and some of the morons on this forum have the audacity to question his chin. He had bones broken in his face, his eye socket was busted up, his nose had been clubbed in by Donaire, he was hit by that ATG left hook and didn't taste the canvas once yet has a glass chin all of a sudden after getting caught cold and off-balance by a known big puncher when being reckless and still got up without a problem. This thread is ridiculous.
Here we are, 2024 and the glass jaw deniers are still plaguing ESB, have you pip squeaks learnt nothing. There is an old Chinchecker saying that has run true back to the days of Floyd Patterson and beyond and that sprinkling of wisdom declares 'Once they crack, they never come back'. Inoue's chin has just been cracked and now you can bet your bottom dollar that it's just a matter of time before Inoue does the spaghetti legged chicken dance all over Japan. The glass jaw deniers and Inoue nuthuggers will be out squealing in full force but no amount surgery will delay the inevitable. There was a time when Roy Jones fanboys were claiming he was the 2nd coming of George Chuvalo, look what happened when his chin got cracked, his punch resistance diminished to that of a 7 stone woman. Look at the Haney buttsniffers claiming he owned a Floyd Mayweather chin, look what happened when Garcia chinchecked that fragile mandible. The truth is now out there, Haney will get that china chin cracked time and time again from this point onwards. Look what happened to Usyk, the glass body denying fanboys were out in full force claiming it was bull**** and that he owns an iron body, then look what happens, Triple D Daniel Dubois goes and absolutely shatters the Torso of Usyk in crystal clear HD before a global audience of millions, rendering him an absolute mess on the canvas for 3 minutes solid. If we have learnt anything over the years, it is that not only do glass jaws exist in boxing, but glass bodies are also prevalent, and we shall continue to analyse and discuss them here on ESB.
What are you talking about? Donaire literally broke Inoue orbital and Inoue fought through it and scored KD of his own en route to the win.
This punch would have knocked down anyone. His neck could not rotate, and his head absorbed the whole punch. Do you know why the left hook is more dangerous than the right hook, when the right hook carries more power? it does not make sense, does it? Well, the reason is that if you are hit by a left hook your neck cannot rotate (because your left shoulder doesnt allow it) and your head absorbes the punch, resulting in a kind of whiplash that totally messes your brain. This is exactly what happened here. Inoue's head position didnt allow the neck to mitigate part of the punch, and his brain ate the whole power of the punch. No shame AT ALL in being dropped by that punch. The fact that he recovered is amazing, actually. Inoue is just not normal. I havent seen anything similar since pacquiao. He's unreal.
Sorry Zak, you're just not processing that knockdown correctly. I don't think Inoue was hurt even remotely, as I'm sure you noticed in the replay, Inoue was badly out of position, his legs weren't fully beneath him and was in the process of throwing a right hand, then the forward momentum was exacerbated by the force of the punch itself. The way he violently spun around from the counter left backs that up. Sure he stayed down until 7, but his eyes were clear and seemed like he was sussing out the situation more than anything. Not saying it was fully a balance shot... but it contributed to it. Most people if caught with a shot like that, while standing like that, would go down. Although if going with your narrative, since Nery is a murderous puncher, and Inoue reacted in such a nonchalant manner to what looked like a horrendous knockdown. If anything it validates how ****ing great his chin is. This content is protected
I think he was hurt, but it looks like most of the energy was transferred through his body rather than through his chin given the way he completely span around. It wasn't like his chin snapped sideways at the point of the punch and his body just crumpled which might give me slightly more cause for concern (though anyone can get caught). But it wasn't a pure balance shot either if the heavy way he landed was any indication and the fact Inoue didn't spring up immediately as usually happens when a fighter is just knocked off their feet. Someone mentioned the knockdown reminded them of Calzaghe vs Byron Mitchell. I totally agree. It was like a weird mix of balance shot and genuine power punch, and I think Inoue was wise to take the count to gather his senses before getting up.
Dudes been a pro for like 12 years and then he gets knocked down for the first time in his career an suddenly he’s packin glass an always has been? Lol get the **** outta here
