I used to think catchweights were purely a disgrace. Fighters should fight at full weight classes. But the years have changed my mind. Mayweather and Pacquiao both used catch weights to great success. I now understand why. Fans don’t care about chasing greatness, but only about whether you win and lose. A win at a catchweight it still superior to any loss. Loma went up to 135, the loses there have ruined his legacy. Mickey Garcia dared to be great at 147, the loss to Spence ruined his momentum. Both great fighters with promising futures were ruined by false promises of respect and chasing glory. Now people want Inoue to move up to 126. Why? So he can be robbed in close decisions fighting ever increasing weight bullies? The A side dictates the terms, so he should use it for what it’s worth. Boxing cares if you win, not how you win
Loma's legacy ruined? By who lol...Loma had a narrow 7-5 loss to Salido (who was running from Loma by the end...not to mention the corrupt refereeing) and Teo (who, like Salido, wanted nothing to do w a rematch). And many had Loma beating Haney which was a more based scorecard. Inoue is handling himself correctly. Take your time and move up when you want otherwise dont move up.
just dont fight the feathers. hes got nakatani and probably bam in his future if he stays where hes at. those are great fights that rival anything he can do at 126. but they are more winnable amd will make more money. he can then try feather if he wants. AFTER establishing he is this generations greatest small man.
