I'm not sure about that. Most of Mayweather's toughest opponents were many years from their signature victory. Take for example Pacquiao. His signature win was in 2003 and Mayweather fought him in 2015.
Thats BS So Mayweather's signature win was corrales, what year was that? Pacquiao might of had his first great win then, but he improved as a fighter after that He was past his best in 2015 and so was Floyd. Roach even said Floyd's legs were gone. The same roach has been on record more than once, saying Floyd is the best of his generation Anyway, Pacquiao in 2015 was much greater than a fat lump who lost to Ngannou Other potential greats like Oscar, canelo (though a little green) old Mosley and cotto are better than the guys on usyks resume An undefeated hatton was also a much greater win than Anthony bellew
Pacquiao was a more dominant fighter at 126 pounds. That's for sure. He's a hard days work for anybody in history at 126. He's pretty easy work at 147 for guys like SRL and Hearns.
I agree because his speed, power etc were frightening, but he became much more skilled in higher weights and was a 2 handed fighter. Yes his offense was dwindling, but his defence improved Also you could say the same for Floyd at 130. He was frightening then You hate Floyd, I know from your posting, I get that. But he's an ATG and he still handled pac, when others at that time couldn't. Ask Bradley or thurman years late Anyway, we are getting away from the subject amd I'm tired buddy I believe Manny pacquio in 2015 was much greater than a fat lump, who had 3 years out of the ring previous and was also old himself. Yes he was bigger than usyk, but he was bigger than mcdermott and cunningham as well and let's not even mention the mma guy
Absolute rubbish you're just straight up lying are we going to close our eyes and pretend Pacquiao didn't move up in weight and dominate the likes of Cotto ? ODLH ? Morales ? Hatton ? Oh yeah but I suppose Fury having 1 ok win in the last 5 years against a shopworn Whyte is amazing because Usyk beat him. Or Joshua's best win in last 5 years being Wallin. Just stop....you're clueless.
And ignore the fact he's beaten way more notable fighters and triple the amount of ranked fighters. Newsflash you're purposely ignoring facts and being biased.
Cotto was far and away Pac's best win. That one is so insane people can't really comprehend it. It could well be the best win in the history of boxing. A former lineal champ at 112 lbs beats the living crap out of a future lineal MW champion. There has never been anything close to that, ever. Its only near rival in beating naturally larger opponents like that is perhaps some other Pac win such as over Margarito, who was insanely much bigger. What Pac did against Cotto is along the lines if Inoue would go up and beat someone like Crawford. It's so god damned insane that we actually don't really seem to compute it still.
Its clear that the level of opps Inoue fighting are weak in a weak era and certainly a weak division. No strong opps! Nada! But it’s not his fault.Sonetimes boxing goes through periods where talent becomes poor and is not what it once was in the past.
In the case of Usyk, from the horse's own mouth, it'll be no later than end of calendar year 2026! He publicly stated a couple of weeks after my thread was made that he is only planning on two more bouts ahead of retirement. The first is to almost certainly be Parker or Dubois II (contingent upon who emerges victorious in Parker vs. Dubois on Saturday) and the second is anyone's guess. Usyk did mention that he might have a look at making a deal with UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. The light heavyweight division in MMA is analogous to somewhere in between Cruiser and Bridgerweight in boxing. Hopefully that was a joke and his swansong is versus a worthy contender from his own discipline...although, really, he will have left very few of those after cleaning out the division should he beat Parker/Dubois. The winner of either Kabayel vs. Zhāng or Bakole vs. Ajagba would technically be the most deserving of the pack, but none of those potential match-ups are quite blockbusters. Some would like to see Usyk face Nigerian-Slovakian-British southpaw rising star Enriko "Moses" Itauma, but he simply doesn't have anywhere near the résumé yet to justify that opportunity and it's hard to imagine him catching up that much by the second of Usyk's dates.
100% Agree. Two very special fighters indeed. It'll be a long time till there's anyone even close to as good as Usyk in particular.
