It was shown on FREE TV channel 8, not PPV so I don't see how they got that number.
Kindda HYPE news again by the Yakuzas whom (rumor has it) paid Payano handsomely to take a dive on the 1st round and controlled the betting.

Kansai is the home of Yakuza.

They paid him to get himself sparked clean out by the first right hand thrown?

The rating would surely be calculated just like it is worldwide for tv.

Just for perspective when Pride FC and K-1 were hot in Japan they would draw crazy high ratings for their stars on the NYE shows.

The top 10 highest rated fights range from 25 mil - 42.5 mil

    Got a link?

But regardless , that was when he held all the belts. The offer is obviously not going to be the same now that he brings no belts to the table.

Jamie McDonnel recently brought his WBA belt and decade long unbeaten record to Japan and I don't remember any news sources claiming he was being paid a ridiculous amount of money.

You can't tell me what Murata and his challengers make because you don't know , so you may as well be comparing apples to watermelons.

Yep. Rating is different as people thought that 5,000,000 figure up there was PPV which isn't.

Murata has already drew 20 mil on Fuji TV. Him v GGG or Canelo would be huge in Japan but not on PPV.

Who the **** thought it was Ppv? Everyone by now knows Japan don't do PPV boxing (even Asign cancelled it) barring 1 very obscure channel

Will find a link when I get home McDonnell wasn't paid a ridiculous amount because McDonnell is an unknown even in the UK

Thats not how it works. The money is in Japan , not the UK , so it doesn't matter how popular he is. He was there to make the home fighter a Champ.
McDonnel still would have gotten the higher split of the purse because he was bringing his title to Japan. If the massive amount of money was there like you claim it is then he would have received the majority share.

How do Japanese viewing numbers on free tv translate to dollars and pounds? Fight purses prove how much money is there , viewing numbers don't.

Believing Golovkin can go to Japan and clean up is a baseless assumption.

Murata doesn't even seem to keen on the fight anymore. His sights are on Alverez.

Murata originally pulled out of the Brant fight cos he wasn't happy with his purse.

He only agreed after Bob Arum stepped in and moved the fight to Vegas.

Golovkin going to get all that Tokyo money doe.:jaja-no:

which is why Golovkin will fight Murata in Japan for more money. If my superior calculations are correct, he will make 20 million or so dollars fighting Murata, and thus afterwards impregnate millions of Japanese female fans with his superior seed.
