    Michael Jackson: Boxing's Great Loss

Who would have won a mythical matchup between Michael Jackson and Floyd Mayweather Jr.?

    Jackson by KO
    Jackson by decision
    Mayweather by KO
    Mayweather by decision

On June 25, 2009, pop superstar and legendary entertainer Michael Jackson died because of apparent complications from prescription medicines. With the passing of Jackson, fans all over the world are in mourning with the buzz of his death penetrating all facets of the media and saturating the Internet.

With the loss of Jackson we lost a great musician but unknown to many we may have lost a potentially great boxer.

Ever since Jackson's "Beat It" video where he was shown demonstrating great agility, throwing crisp jabs, right hands and even kicks, there has been much speculation over his potential fighting ability as a boxer or even a UFC practitioner.

Jackson was even featured as a boxer in Midway's video game "Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2". There has even been speculation on the Internet regarding a potential fight between Jackson and Prince.

Personally, I believe Jackson would have defeated Prince possibly by knockout. Jackson was taller, had blinding speed, and would probably pick Prince apart from the outside.

Sources close to Jackson in the past indicate Jackson was a great fan of the sport of boxing and had great hand technique as well as footwork. When news came out about Jackson's potential in the ring and a rumoured ring debut, several world champions were concerned because of his hand and foot speed.

In many circles, Jackson was considered almost Bruce Lee-ish and the Beat it video in which he defeats multiple attackers is believed by many to be taken from true events in his life.

Those that questioned Jackson's fighting spirit needed only to see his performance in the final minutes of the "Black and White" video where Jackson unleashes unholy destruction on a car while demonstrating a plethora of martial arts techniques.

Although Jackson was teased for seeming effeminate or gay, no one was brave enough to say this in his face and concert videos have shown him reducing grown men to tears just by the use of intimidating movements passed off as simple dance.

I've been covering boxing for over thirty years and I believe that only a young Hector Camacho displayed the hand speed that Michael Jackson had. If Julio Cesar Chavez had problems with Meldrick Taylor, imagine what Jackson would have done to him.

Today the world mourns the death of the King of Pop and possibly the greatest fighter of all time.

I don't know what's funnier - Oscar being described as a "real gangster" or the image of a terrified, soapy, inmate trying to wriggle free from a sex-crazed Hopkins grip in the shower!

You really can get away with writing anything on the internet.

He actually claimed in one of his articles that Sonny Liston died while masturbating to a picture of Marilyn Monroe. WTF?

I'm having fun just reading how ridiculous these articles are.

Hahaha - brilliant. I've heard a few theories on Listons death but that's a new one one me.

Michael Jackson being compared to Bruce Lee? MMA fighters creaming in their pants during fights? Photos of that stripper violating Oscar? The underground Mayweather sex-tape?

    This stuff is comedy gold.

It's even funnier when you consider that Calzaghe clearly knew about all of this... That's why he pretended to sodomize BHOP out of nowhere.

The Nat Fleischer Award of excellence for boxing journalism should be renamed after Presscott. Fleischer is not worthy to carry Presscott's spit bucket.

I spit my coffee out on the train when I got to the part about his pet rat :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

I miss prescott's posts here, ****ing dude was hilarious, And thread starter "KGB" or "Kaygb" is a well known alias of Jack or bigtime ball sucker of him, one or the other....and I really don't think Prescott is that Jackson fellow. We figured out who he was one day from and article that was on the front page under his "real name" and then the author was then switched to Jack Prescott because everyone knew from reading it it was him.

    Women's Boxing Needs Women's Empowerment

Slowly but surely, women’s boxing is climbing up out of the shadows, earning a new respectability. It is now even being considered as an Olympic event. Women’s boxing never flourished for a number of reasons, but that is beginning to change.

And if taken in the right direction, it could rival men’s boxing as an attraction.

In the past, women’s boxing didn’t flourish for cultural reasons, as the general public was not used to seeing women punching each other, getting swollen up, etc.

Once people got used to the idea of women doing something as unladylike as boxing, the next reason female boxing didn’t flourish was because the female boxers had horrible skills and many looked like ugly men.

In the 1990s, the sport took a turn for the better as Christy Martin appeared on the scene and became its biggest name at the time. Martin was successful because, although she was not very pretty, she wasn't horrible either, and she looked like a woman.

She also had decent boxing skills and was able to produce exciting knockouts for the cameras. Nevertheless, Martin was the lone decent looking female boxer wading in a pool of sea boors. Further, she had no legitimate challengers.

Next, along came Laila Ali, arguably the hottest woman to ever put on a pair of boxing gloves. But she was too big for Martin, although they eventually did fight in a mismatch.

Currently, women’s boxing has somewhat slowed down again on the professional level. But there is a lot of potential.

What this sport needs in order to truly go mainstream is something to take it over the top. The feminists and the cynics need to put their money where their mouths are and stop holding women back. Female boxers have been forced to wear tops while fighting.

    Why?

In order to have the same success as their male counterparts, female boxers should be allowed to fight topless just as the men do. Women should also be allowed to fight in sexy attire or only in a thong if that is their choice.

In this modern age, it is a travesty for women to be held back by the sexist society that promotes this false idea that women’s breasts should be covered in the ring, whereas a man’s should not be.

However, in order for the cynics not to transform this female expression into some sort of warped sexually voyeuristic event, it would be important to maintain the skill level of the participants. If anyone has seen amateur superstar Christina Cruz, they know what I mean.

Cruz has displayed the boxing ability of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the body of a porn star. Cruz was on display recently in the 2009 Golden Gloves Tournament, along with Julie Ann Kelley, another hot winner (albeit in a different weight class).

Kelley has that blonde cheerleader look, is very sexy, and has great skills, whereas Cruz is the typical Puerto Rican with pale skin, black hair. However, she does not have those big J-Lo type buttocks that could result in more fans.

The potential for Kelly and Cruz, if moved correctly, is unlimited. If both of these women are given the necessary exposure at the professional level, we could see a potential super fight between them in the future.

Imagine these two highly skilled female boxers trading punches topless with breasts flopping violently during furious exchanges as they tussle in their skimpy thong bottom wear, with buttocks contorting for the visual delight of the fans.

It would be like going from regular television to HD. The effect this would have on the boxing world would be monumental and pay-per-view records would be broken.

Hypothetically, Laila Ali would then come out of retirement in true Floyd Mayweather Jr. fashion and claim to be pound-for-pound the best, even though years had gone by and she hadn’t fought anyone.

However, Ali would be taken seriously because, like Mayweather Jr., she had skills.

Furthermore, after giving birth, Ali’s breasts are likely to be slightly larger and she always had a spectacular buttocks. She would be motivated to train harder and arrive in better shape since she would be fighting topless and in a thong.

I personally would prefer to see a matchup between Ali and Kelly because the whole black-white thing would draw so much attention and it would be interesting to see if Ali could take the body shots after having given birth.

In order for women’s boxing to be revolutionized, these steps need to be taken to empower women to be able to use their natural gifts to earn money just as men do.
