Dempseys resturant was great !!! It was huge with a photographer , a famous mural, large photos on the wall, huge bar, really a very very nice place....people came from all over the world thats why they had a photographer there in case you wanted a picture with dempsey, and one of best deserts ive ever had, thats one reason dempsey put on some pounds....after dempsey ate dinner he would go to every table, of which there were alot of, and sit down and talk with you and sign autographs !! Very friendly guy...a regular guy who became world famous it seemmed.

Did I ever confess that I have a 70's dress shirt that is a print of the famous Firpo-Dempsey fight painting that hung in his restaurant?

Dempsey was my 3rd boxing hero... Tyson, Sullivan, Dempsey... I was hugely enamored. And still tap into that vein in my dotage.

 

This made me irrationally happy. The half assed "You mudda ****a" wrestling he does with his boy when he finds out he's on camera. That is what a fighter's affection looks like.

 

I thoroughly enjoy this kind of stuff...any time I can see these greats...these giants of "fistiana" it's so much fun...so cool!
