Consider that Manny Pacquiao started his career at 106 lbs.
Oscar De La Hoya weighed in at 160 lbs. v. Felix Sturm.
    That's a full 12 weight classes higher!

To put it in perspective consider these potential fights as undercards on the Pac/DLH fight:

    Christian Mijares v. Joe Calzaghe
    Israel Vazquez v. Wladimir Klitschko

Those would be some interesting bouts!

Don't worry, Manny is currently wearing shoulder pads and shoes pads to make the difference in size look less dramatic. So it's all good.

He is also stanng closer in the picture in front of the statue of liberty. The perspective makes them look the same size.

People give De La Hoya **** for fighting a guy who used to fight at a smaller weight class. Hopkins started his career at 175 and became the Light Heavyweight Champion. De La Hoya fought his first 2 years at 130 lbs! Too many people get on De La Hoya case! I think he has only lost 1 fight in his career. (hopkins) I think he beat Trinindad and Moseley (2nd fight) easily! He one 5 out of the 1st 6 rounds against Moseley in the 1st fight.....worst I could see that fight was a draw!

I can't wait to watch the HBO 24/7 series and how they try to make it sound competitive.

DLH: "I'm fighting the best P4P fighter in the world. It's a huge challenge for me. I think i'm up for it. I can't take him lightly"

(What DLH forgets to mention is that he's fighting a midget)

Pacquiao doesn't look much smaller than DLH and the only difference I seen in the pictures is height.

I don't think its that big of a problem, considering that Pacquaio will carry his speed and quickness up to welterweight.

Also considering that DLH has been a shell of his formerself over the last few years. I can go back to his fight with Sturm as the begining of the downfall.

Given DLH's history ... last time he fought the P4P best ... he was beaten convincingly and the main determining factor was speed.

Boy do i completely disagree with everything you just said.

First off, it seems like you have been persuaded by the shoulder pads and shoe pads.

Second, there is no guarantee he will carry his power and speed up to WW. There is no way to tell how he will do at that weight.

Third, DLH still has immense talent. His problem is stamina. But the hand speed and talent is still there.

Yeah, but that P4P fighter wasn't a midget.

What about Quartey? Ike won the first 6 rounds of that fight. Don't believe me? watch it again. This is a mega money payday that you and I and just about every boxing fan will pay to see. Unfortunately Manny may get beaten to death. Becasue he won't quit.

That's why most people don't consider Hopkins' victory over DLH was one of his signature victories.

Exactly what he is talking about. DLH and Tito tried the same **** against Hopkins and We all saw the result. I never expected DLH or Tito to beat Hopkins. But I will be honest. I prayed for a miracle for Tito. If DLH comes in top shape, he should dominate easily.

Are we still ignoring the fact that Manny Pacquiao was 106lbs when he was 16 years old?

Thats the same as Floyd Mayweather Junior, who won the Golden Gloves at 106lbs at the age of 16.

So, to actually put it in perspective, Pacquiao fighting De La Hoya wouldn't be like Mijares fighting Calzaghe at all, it would be like Mayweather fighting De La Hoya. Except at a division lighter. Oh.

Pacquiao don't have the footspeed Floyd had and he's not a mover.
