HH, Alex Arthurs nose deserves a thread of its own if the truth be told, it frightened my own mother when she was forced to watch the Scotland today sports segment with big Raman when I was there for my dinner, & another poster here told me recently that his girlfriend was taken aback by it! Its all been discussed in recent earlier threads... I aint foolin around!!!
Christine Morrison spoke to me and Ricky and she said she never at any time shook AAA hand let alone gave him a hug, regardless of that Christine and Alex Morrison werent made aware of the gestures until they arrived in the changing room well after the fight! Bottom line mate hes made the gestures and imo hes bang out of order!atsch
Id beleive Ricky girlfriend and family all day long,if you seen how angry thet were so would you mate
I suppose there's no reason for Ricky's family to lie about this, it just seems strange judging by Arthur's comments on Ringside two days before the fight and his comments after. If he's lying about hugging a baby that's pretty disgusting.
I didn't say you would be fighting Alex Arthur - I asked why you were on here acting like a teenager taking digs at him. If Arthur is that beneath you two, then surely you wouldn't want to give him any attention in the media?
True mate, very true! it just sickens you a bit when something like this is done imo.just like to say the Liverpool crowd were 100% behind Ricky on Sat they were great.
The crowd did seem pretty understanding with the way the fight ended. I suffer from spondylitis so I have no idea why Cook would even think about fighting one of the best at super-featherweight with his back problems. I get he wanted the money for his bar and was hoping if he won he could get an even bigger fight in term of his purse against Kevin Mitchell, but still nuts. Ricky and Nicky Cook both seemed fairly respectful of one another in the buildup though, but I imagine if one of them had been doing a Haye or DeGale-esque trash talk marathon the crowd might not have been so understanding with how it ended!
Could be this .Dreamsnatcher Rosstraining Yes, it’s only a movie (though based on a true story), but we’d all be better off by following this simple advice. Our world is unfortunately filled with dream snatchers. Many who fail take comfort in seeing others fail. They don’t want to see you do something that they couldn’t achieve. Dream snatchers come from all walks of life. They are not necessarily enemies or strangers. Often times the dream snatcher doesn’t realize that he or she fits the mold. It could be a friend, coach, or even a family member. Don’t let dream snatchers bring you down. Use their negativity to spark new motivation. If someone tells me that I can’t do something, I work that much harder to prove them wrong. I am the only person who lives inside my skin. No one knows what I can or cannot do. We as people are often not as smart as we’d like to believe. No one truly knows what others are capable of achieving. We can’t look into a crystal ball to see the future. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. No one knows how bad you want it. No one knows how hard you are willing to work. No one knows how much you are willing to sacrifice. These are unique (individual) factors that differentiate you from everyone in the world. The individual writes his own future. Don’t let anyone steal your pen. You need to take ownership and then live with the decisions that you make. Perhaps the best advice you’ll ever hear is to believe in yourself. This advice applies to all facets of life (ex. school, career, sport, etc.). You can only go so far when you live a life of doubt. When you actually believe in yourself and refuse to give up, you’ll often surprise yourself and others. http://rosstraining.com/blog/2009/01/14/protect-your-dreams/
Now who would have thought a Billy Nelson ESB bitching thread would have made Scotlands national press & provoked a war of words not seen north of the border since Peter Harrison made the back page of the NOTW cos Jim Watt didnt like Scott Harrison? Only to end here with a profound post about life itself... Damn thats why I love this place
Peter Harrison's replied in todays Daily Record saying this allegation could make AAA retire from boxing! If your concience was totally clear retirment would be the furthest thing from your mind wouldn't it,so it begs the question doesn't it?
Why dont they have a scrap up in the highlands will be a good draw up there.....:think Im sure Burns can take a few minutes out of his day to give him a hiding and a good pay cheque then back to buissness as ussual..
Just seen a write up in the Scotsman.I'll post the link and article ALEX ARTHUR today strenuously denied allegations from Ricky Burns' camp that he supported Nicky Cook, Burns' opponent in Saturday night's WBO super-featherweight bout in Liverpool, and made cut-throat gestures. Burns said after the fight: "I know Alex was signalling to Cook to beat me and I don't understand why he was so disrespectful." Billy Nelson, Cook's trainer, was also furious and alleged that Arthur was making cut-throat gestures. He added after the ADVERTISEMENT fight, which Burns won in just 93 seconds: "Alex Arthur couldn't win the world title in the ring. He had to be given it and never defended it. There's a good trivia question for you - who got the world title but never won it in the ring?" However, former WBO champion Arthur expressed his surprise at Burns' and Nelson's comments, saying his respect for Burns goes back to 2006, when Arthur beat him on points at Meadowbank, while also denying reported allegations that he made cut-throat gestures and supported Cook. The Capital man said: "Ricky Burns and his team should go back and read the Evening News report on Ricky Burns' challenge in February 2006, when Burns challenged me at Meadowbank for my European British and Commonwealth titles." Back then, Arthur said: "Ricky Burns gave me my hardest fight ever - apart from Michael Gomez - amongst the domestic British boxers that I've fought.'' Arthur also told this paper on that occasion: "When the final bell rang I told Ricky that he would become a world champion one day as he had given me problems early on before I sapped him with my body punches.'' Arthur, on the claims he was behind Englishman Cook rather than Burns, said: "Ricky should note that despite claims by other people around him, I still have that same level of admiration for him that I had back in 2006, so why would I act as has now been alleged that I did in Liverpool?" Meanwhile, former world lightweight champion and current media boxing pundit, Jim Watt, rubbished claims that Edinburgh's Arthur supported Cook. Watt, who was also at the Liverpool Arena ringside on commentating duties, opined: "I've known both Ricky Burns and Alex Arthur for ages and both these guys have expressed their admiration for each other many times to me. "Although I was busy concentrating on my TV ringside work, I still can't and won't believe Arthur would rubbish Burns which is why I question the accuracy of these claims about Arthur supporting Cook in any way. "The only time that I heard Alex Arthur slagging off an opponent pre-fight was against Michael Gomez - and that was only because Gomez started the slanging match. Publicly abusing fellow pro boxers is totally out of character for Alex Arthur, so I don't believe that he did it with Burns." http://sport.scotsman.com/boxing/Boxing-Alex-Arthur-denies-that.6803921.jp
