This was an amazing read. What's all the bitching about, floyd might end up on showtime too if they aint carful. GBP is old news, floyds talking to king every other day, and with cbs in their back pocket who know's what's gonna happen. This isn't a thread about pro TP, or pro Bob Arum, and sure as **** doesn't have **** to do with pac/may....It's about HBO's child like approach to the sport of boxing and how they foolishly trip over their own feet at every other turn.

People post all the time how their sick of the business of boxing and bad match ups, poor commentating, young fighters not getting their exposure... Well HBO had boxing by the balls for a decade now, so when u ***** about those things ur bitching about hbo if u know it or not. This is the BEST NEWS boxing has had in god knows how long. Great article, War Showtime. Can't wait to see that first wave of BOXING COMMERCIALS on CBS during the final four, this is just what the doctor ordered. HBO's lose, but for sure the fans gain.

“Ross and Kery brought this on themselves,” says Arum. “They’re not bad people but they’re in the wrong jobs. Ross is a producer, not a television executive. Kery has no feel for boxing and cares less. And they don’t treat people with respect. Look; I know what HBO has done for Top Rank over the years. If Ross had treated me differently, it would have been very hard for me as a matter of personal loyalty to bring Manny to Showtime and CBS. I carry a lot of Jewish guilt.”

    :rofl

because right now..Pacquiao IS a bigger star than Mayweather.

Wonder what this means since Mayweather is an HBO fighter and Pac is a shobox fighter.

I think this means the fight will NEVER be made.

Mayweather does not have an exclusive deal with anyone. He could be with Don King tomorrow.

    And he certainly is !

No matter which guy you prefer.

Floyd is (very) slightly bigger in the boxing world (for the time being) but overall, Manny is the bigger star.

True. Since his 'free agency' from Arum, Floyd hasn't been bound to any promoter, or network (as far as I know). I think his being on HBO was more out of common sense, they being the one to pay the most. But not so sure if he can just pop up on Showtime. :think

    Probably because he is.

Pacquiao is better known for fighting in the ring. Floyd is better known for court appearances after beating on his wife.

If Oscar didn't bail Floyd out with the IRS some years back, Floyd would be a nothing and just a crack head like his old man and uncle.

Wow this is huge for Pac and Arum. No wonder they announced 6 more fights.

  12. Floyd is NOT n HBO fighter! It was HBO's Ross Greenberg who even lied to us that negotiations indeed happened. This lie was to the detriment of Mayweather's image. Mayweather can choose wherever outfit he goes! :good

Okay the **** about no one from HBO going to Gatti's funeral or Arum's son's funneral it pretty rediculous. The rest of this stuff it kinda all over the place and obviously pretty onesided. I mean the guy even goes so far as to name the person that will lead the coming purge at HBO....right:patsch sure no problem there buddy but me thinks your getting a little caried away.

I don't worry about HBO selling their sole to make the bradley alexander fight but what I do worry about is how poorly they've promoted it (not just HBO's fault). As a fan of boxing I do want to see more competition between the networks. Honestly, this might sound stupid but the way it works these days by only having one big network (sorry showtime) hbo kinda creates its own problems. I mean what basically happens is that hbo only has a little bit of money to promote there up and coming fighters on boxing afterdark....as a result only a couple of fighters in a couple of divisions get good exposure and become stars....so when it comes to making big top level fights that they can market to the general public they can only really go to their pool of one or two fighters in any given division....problem is that this gives each fighter a large amount of leverage. So I hate to say it but if you are a big TV executive at HBO and you have this dream of making the top fighters in any say the talent rich 140 lb division fight eachother you got a bit of a problem in that if any of the fighters you have spent soo much money building up doesn`t want to take the risk or doesn`t like the money they get offered there is no one else waiting in the wings to take their place. Now if you take a look at the 175 lb and 168 lb divisions there are a plethora of good fights that can be made over the next 2-3 years after the super six is finished for good return because of many stars and well known faces that have been made/developed by both showtime and by HBO.

I hope the Showtime PPV does well. I like the package that CBS was able to bring to the table. I can see how bringing fight cards back to terestrial TV is hard because of the advertising but I can definitely see a place for using terestrail TV more and more for marketing big fights. So I hope this really does well. If it does it`ll open up new doors for everyone.
