nah didnt catch it will have a look later yeh he fought pretty good in the pocket but was playing with hatton isnt fighting in the pocket just inside fighting
It is but it depends on what type of inside fighting you want to concentrate on specifically. Whether it be a Lewis style of preventing the opposition throwing, using your weight and strength and utilizing short punches such as uppercuts, or fighting in the pocket. Obviously guys like Nico Locche and Mayweather are fantastic examples if you want to learn that, but it's going to be much more difficult to learn and execute well. It's more reliant on specific attributes, such as reflexes and ability to read punches well and employ a tight but flexible guard like Mayweather does.
well when im inside fighting thats the type fo stuff i do (or try to) but im looking to wath great fighters to pick up little things especially when attacking and negating inside work
Obviously there's no harm picking things up but as a whole employing sort of style that a guy like Locche or PBF utilizes is extremely difficult. Personally I don't regard fighting 'in-the-pocket' as true inside fighting because I don't think your opponent truly wants to be close. I think they want the fight more at mid-range so they can pick their punches better. And obviously if your fighting in the pocket your on the defensive and relatively rooted, therefore it's your opponent who sets the range.
get what your saying yeh fighting like Locche, PBf is hard but im trying to improve my whole inside game
Duran was the best at bending the knees inside to adjust height. He was incredibly varied when it came to offense and defense up close. Fluid as well.
If you want to study a mayweather fight on the inside look at this below against jesus chavez in the last 2 rounds [yt]Fco0PmJX8bw[/yt] As others have said duran is the best person to study for there inside ability, the way he gets in there, his defence and the work he does inside are second to none, his fight v palomino is a perfect example, chavez is another and also whitaker, i always thought he was great on the inside, espicailly his shots to the body and obviously his defence
i dont really base my style on anyone put just pick up things from fighters but Pep, Whittaker, Locche, Hagler and Ali are guys i copy alot of moves from
Before I answer that, are you tall short or average for your weight class? It might also be useful to know how agresive or defensive your style is.
im tall at my weight but often have to give away weight so then im small at the weight im pretty defensive in that i look to counter punch but i cut off the ring and put my opponent under pressure though and counter of teh front foot but if they come at me i fight of teh back foot where im more effective
This suggests to me that you might be better off studying rangier fighters with good infighting skills such as Ridick Bowe rather than clasic infighters such as Henry Armstrong. Joe Louis makes an interesting case study because he is 6' 1'' and fought employed infighting techniques against oponents ranging from 5' 7'' to 6' 7'' and became a verry diferent fighter acordingly. It might be worth comparing the Louis of the second Godoy fight to the Louis of the two Buddy Baer fights to see the "taller oponent mode" and "shorter oponent mode".
