What are some tips, advice, strategies, pointers, ect. that you guys can give on fighting in the pocket.
Like what are some maneuvers you guys do to find openings and what type of guard do you guys use.

Right now I pretty much look like Clottey in the inside with my hands straight up and a little squared up , but not too much

Philly shell keeps me safest inside.

But if you really want to open someone up, try to slip one of your arms underneath their armpit and kinda turn/lift them. Then pound them with the other hand.

    Works excellent against short guys.

I live around Marrietta. The gym around me aren't too good, but I haven't been to all of them yet. I may visit some more gyms in the near future. Most of my friends who box seriously usually have to drive to Atlanta

Nothing wrong with that. The man is a beast!

Depends on your style but one thing I always find common is guys reverting to "turn based Boxing", he throws, you defend, you throw, he defends. ALWAYS try to throw something quick (and safe) mid combo (or push a little) and bust up his rhythm WITHOUT breaking your defensive shell.

Requires you to analyze your (you and his) body position and set up for the counter to the "prime/expected" punch. IMHO, just busily working on the inside can prove to be a massive waste of resources. Especially if the guy is a good counter puncher/defender.

I also say sprinkling in doubling up on the same hand is great. Most guys roll into the doubled up shot.

Rest on your opponent. Lean on that mofo. :hey

use ur shoulder to push him off balance

get the lower centre of gravity

don't pull your hooks back, push them upwards with your legs

mix it up. throw combos as well as single power shots..

one good method is draw a circle on the floor and two of you have to keep one foot inside ciorcle. one of you attacks with no power. the other defends. good way of boosting skills.

my fav litle trick is in orthodox stance lean in and push against my opponent. my stance is sort of philly shell like. the opp pushes back. my left shoulder is lying across his chest and underneath chin. then simply rotate your upper body so you move away from him. exposes his chin for right uppercut.

im only a white collar boxer who has had a few amateur fights but i have caught many people with this including some excellent pros and former pros. hope my description makes sense.

Was showing my brother some inside tricks today.

Basically, I feel, on the inside the most important thing on the inside is to controll the middle, try get your head in between his gloves so you can work inside his guard and force him to punch wide. Its easier for smaller guys to do, but I'm tall at my weight and manage to do it with shorter guys in the gym.

Once you get inside you have to be about instinct, you dont have much time to react to punches like you do on the outside so you have to keep your chin right down and move your head. Another thing about controlling the middle is, if there is a clash of heads it will be the guys fault.

Another thing to do, is little steps and shifts in angles, these open up the body so easily and you can really whip in shots. Julio Cesar Chavez was great at this, so was Duran. It also throws your opponent off-balance a bit.

Julio Cesar Chavez is body-king in my book. he effortlessly dropped so many fighters with body shots
